Who has a good online site to order coffee?

I could go for days without oxygen, but not without coffee. I've discovered numerous online coffee ordering sites but I'm overwhelmed with jittery excitement to know where to begin. Does anyone have a trusted online source for good coffee?

Just came back from Key West and a definite highlight (even in such a great place) was Baby's Coffee. We made sure it was our last stop out of town and I nursed that large cup all the way home.

I can personally vouch for the Sexpresso and the Jet Black. Wonderful, wonderful stuff. Give it a shot, you won't regret it!

I order Keurig cups from coffeeforless.com all the time and have never had a problem.

If you take your beans seriously, it's worth checking out Counter Culture.

Someone gave us a year-long coffee-of-the-month from Jittery Joe's for our wedding and it was one of the best presents ever. All of the varieties were fantasitc and nice and rich. I recommend!

where do you live? you want your coffee to get to you as quickly as possible after roasting. if you're near a metropolis (hehe, this will get funny in a minute), there should be at least one good micro roaster nearby...

both intelligentsia and metropolis coffee companies ship their beans and both roast some damn fine coffee. i'm partial to intelligentsia myself, but that's because their black cat blend produces the thickest crema layer i've ever seen.

Coffeefool.com. Seriously. It's a bit pricey, but in all honesty, it's the hands-down best coffee I've had anywhere. We get whole bean and grind them every morning in the office and make them in a french press. It's a bit of work, but it's worth it for great coffee.

I like to go to coffeebeaneryonline.com

I also live close to one and I've always had great coffee from there.

Peet's Coffee has extensive mail order options on their website. www.peets.com. They have a "frequent buyer" program too.

www.bocajava.com. The beans are small batch roasted, and every time I've ordered from I've been pleased to see that the "roasted on" dates are just a few days gone past.

DoorCountyCoffee.com does a good job with their mail-order business, and their coffee is outstanding. Lots of flavored coffees, but their non-flavored brews are great.

I have to put in a plug for Hailey Coffee Company, a very small outfit in Idaho. http://haileycoffeeco.com
It's a tiny mom and pop operation that does all of its own roasting with a lot of TLC. In the interest of full disclosure, I know "mom" but they are a really earnest folks, and it's the type of small micro business that Serious Eaters should be happy to support.

I can attest to both Jittery Joe's and Peet's. Both excellent purveyors of the holy bean, quality wise. Peet's probably wins out for shipping costs and speed.

I am a huge fan of A Southern Season. This Durham NC institution (since 1975) started as a coffee roaster and is just amazing to see in person. They sell their house roasted coffee online as well.

If your in the Durham Raleigh Triangle area I would run there. I always do.

i like to get green beans from Sweet Maria's and roast them my self..

mattthebutcher.com

Not a coffee drinker but I used to work at the "manufacturing plant" that was REALLY small here in KCMO YOU KNOW! but the coffee smells amazing and it tends to be a favorite of all those who enjoy a good cup. Air roasted by a small company lots of organic lines as well check it out.

LOL@Jittery Joe's. Not the coffee, I just love the name! Puts a smile on your face just reading it.

intelligentsia

I'll second Counter Culture. I've gotten some really great coffee form there

A great coffee company is Fingerlakescoffee.com located in central NY state. They carry fair trade coffee too!!

Batdorf & Bronson is a local roaster here in Olympia, WA. You can order online at www.dancinggoats.com

Go to Peet's. You can order a coffee-of-the-month club if you're so inclined, but I'm partial to blend 101.

Sweet Maria's! They're the best, roasted or unroasted. I'm sipping their Sumatra right now. Yum!

Thank you everyone for these great suggestions. There is a new Intelligentsia shop in Silverlake (suburb of L.a.) and while I've heard great things about them I didn't know they deliver. I'll take a stroll over there and give them a taste! Of course, I may have to oversee a large-scale tasting between all of these operations--I'm just committed that way.

I recommend the following:

Intelligentsia -- particularly Zirinkana (Rwanda) and Finca Matalpa (El Salvador) for drip, and Black Cat for espresso.
Metropolis in Chicago
Terroir Coffee
Counter Culture

In L.A., try Monkey and Son (www.monkeyandson.com). You can buy their coffee at Surfas Chef's Paradise (www.surfasonline.com), which is open to the public. It's in Culver City.

i'm surprised that no one has mentioned Barrington Coffee Roasters. is anyone familiar with Joe The Art of Coffee in NYC? this is where they get their coffee from. it is amazing.

I'm a Peetnik and have been for several years now. I live in Ohio and get my coffee fairly quickly. Also, I get little freebies about once a year, which is always appreciated and they when have a special anniversary blend or their holiday blend, they'll send you a free sample of that. They're also really easy to deal with on the phone.

The website is down at the moment but a good company in TX is Addison Coffee Roasters. If you like flavored coffee this is one of the best in my opinion. You don't get a chemical aftertaste like you get with so many. "Jamaican Me Crazy" is my favorite! The website when it is up is www.addisoncoffee.com.

I went to costarica and went to the Britt coffee platation. It was a very cool experience and I noticed that the coffee they grew was categorized by the land or placing of the beans. It let me learn alot about coffee not only as a drink but as a plant.

Water Street:

they are based in Kalamazoo Michigan. us Kalamazoo-ites are somewhat cultish about our love and obsession with Water Street Coffee (yes, the original location is on Water Street). and Starbucks wonders why they can't make any money in this town.
