Oikos Yogurt
Anyone tried this instead of Fage? I like it because it is just as delicious (maybe moreso!), cheaper, and more available in my area. Anyone else?

I've tried it and I like it as much or more than Fage. It's also $1.50 - $2 cheaper than Fage where I live, which is always nice :)

I'm fine with it. It's affiliated with (if not the same as) Stonyfield Farms. I got a couple of the blueberry yogurts a week ago. They were good, but as usual, too much of the sweet stuff for my tastes.

I have to disagree. I'm normally all for the cheaper / generic variety of things, but oikos for me does not make the cut. Not as thick or creamy, plus it has 110 calories vs. Fage's 80 cals for the same size cup.

I had a coupon for Oikos so I tried it, and was very disappointed. Not at all creamy, and sharply sour. I'll stick with the creamy delicious tartness of Fage.

In my small Rocky Mountain town, only one specialty store carries Fage, sporadically. Half the time that it's in stock, the containters are past their expiration date, and they are about $3.50 each.On the other hand, the (dreaded) Walmart carries Oikos at about $1.40 each. I really like the blueberry, not so much the honey.

Oh well yeah, then for a $2 difference I'd buy Oikos and just make the occasional splurge for Fage. My Whole Foods carries Fage for $2.25, but I can find them at Fiesta for $1.80 (don't know how widespread Fiestas are - probably not very. It's a relatively large specialty Hispanic foods store in Houston.)

I like Oikos more than Fage only because it's organic. I prefer the texture of Fage but I'm not sure about the quality of milk used?? Lately I;ve been a HUGE fan of Siggi's celandic yogurt. If you like super thick Greek yogurt than you'll love this stuff. They have really exotic flavors like pear and mint and orange and ginger. I think it's even more thick than Oikos or Fage. AND it's made in NY from grass-fed cows. Which is awesome :)

I've been making my own yogurt, using Fage as the initial culture, and when my culture starts to get worn out, I buy another little Fage. I have the Donvier yogurt maker, as well as the Donvier yogurt strainer to strain off the excess liquid, and the resulting strained yogurt tastes just like Fage, for about 1/3 the price.

Trader Joe's makes a nice greek yogurt that's much cheaper and suffices (for me) instead of Fage. You just have to stir it up a bit to get it to the right consistency.

I like Fage but find it very overpriced for a rather small cup -- Oikos is good, but lately I've switched to Chobani Greek yogurt--available at Whole Foods and other stores in northern New Jersey -- it comes in flavors, but I always get the Vanilla and add trail mix, gogi berries, etc. to it -- delicious -- and the price is less than Fage,
