Fried Clams/Oysters in NYC
Does anyone know where to go for affordable and delicious fried seafood in New York City? I would love to get fried clams and fried oysters in the city somewhere. Thanks in advance to all the smart people out there!

cheap fried clams are tough, because good clams are so expensive, I like the fried clams at Esca when they are on the menu (full disclosure: I wrote a cookbook with Esca chef-owner David Pasternack). Pearl has excellent fried clams and oysters, as does Mary's Fish Camp. Fried oysters are a better value, and all of the above-mentioned places usually have them.

@Soup_Dumpling,
That sounds like a crazy good deal! I'll have to check that out sometime.
@Ed,
Thanks for the tip about Esca. I always forget about that one because it just seems like an upscale place. I will try to make a trip to all those places! Summer just screams for fried seafood!

I think it closed down but there used to be a place called Lundy's in Sheepshead Bay (not Manhattan). Anyone else remember that? I seem to recall them having good clams...

If you're looking for atmosphere while you eat your fried clams, nothing beats getting a little paper dish of hot breaded clams and eating it on the Coney Island boardwalk.
