Best Pita in NYC?
Hi everyone, my girlfriend and I really want to find the most delicious pita in New York City. It doesn't have to be at a sit-down restaurant or anything, if there's a terrific stand we should know about, we're all for it.

Oops, when I said pita, I meant pita sandwich.

My personal favorites are Taim in the West Village and Maoz in Union Square

Tanoreen in Bay Ridge (Brooklyn) is really pretty awesome, everything the make is spectacular definitely more than a pita sandwich... you may want to take a trip to Little Egypt in Astoria (Steinway st. between 28th avenue & Astoria Boulevard) I've eaten some spectacular food there though i can't remember any names of restaurants. sorry.
make sure to share your finds though, I'm always in the mood for a good falafel.

Another vote for Taim. My sentimental favorite is Rainbow Falafel on the west side of Union Square on 17th.

They make their own pita at Kosher Village on Third Avenue just north of St. Mark's Place. If you're lucky, it'll still be warm when they make your falafel or schwarma.

Pylos. Not a sandwich but it comes warm. Order the Greek dipping sauces -- amazing. Tzatziki, the thick, tangy yogurt dip; taramosalata, the robust and lemony fish roe dip; and melitzanosalata, a luscious eggplant condiment made with chargrilled eggplants and extra-virgin greek olive oil.

I'm no pita sandwich expert, but Falafel Chula in Williamsburg is great. The deluxe is my favorite and the fries are surprisingly delicious!

I second the nominations of Pylos, Tanoreen, and Taim. I also used to like Olympic Pita (in both Manhattan and Brooklyn), but I haven't had it in a few months.

Great. I'm going to try some of those places this weekend. Thanks a lot!

Moustache on Bedford Street, where they make the pita to order. It goes straight from the oven to your plate, a puffy delight to behold.
