The Power of Suggestion
I came home from work with plans of a salad for dinner, logged on to SE and read posts about lamb & harissa (and a few other things!), and immediately shelved my salad plans and HAD to go buy some lamb. I marinated it with harissa and EVOO, and chargrilled it with some asparagus, dressed it all with a lemon and yoghurt dressing and grilled red peppers. Has anyone else shelved their breakfast/lunch/dinner plans because of a post or two on SE?

Oh yeah, I now call it "The Green Sauce Incident", happening over several days last September.

That happens quite frequently to me - I've fallen victim to a tantalizing picture in Saveur, lively discussions here, and on other boards where I participate. And God forbid I see something yummy presented on Martha. It's all over...LOL.

Why yes, just last night. I read @PumpkinBear's post on mixing sriracha and ketchup, and my planned dinner of already prepared chili and cornbread was shelved for french fries, which I knew would taste awesome with the ketchacha (A new word! And mine, all mine!). So today's lunch? Chili and cornbread.

I'm a sucker too...although in the past it was usually when someone at work mentioned what they were craving/making.....and I'd get to thinking about it.

Being in the UK I usually catch the dinner suggestions a little too late, but the Asparagus with Fried Egg and Parmesan was too much to resist after work, I had to have it!

You guys have started to dictate my grocery list. I'm having the Asparagus with Fried Egg and Parmesan for lunch today!

When we spoke about soup and sandwich combo - that day (or the next, I forgot) I bought both sandwiches that I mentioned from my neighborhood sandwich shop, and made a batch of soup. I hadn't gone there in over a year (one of those place that is so close, you forget it's there). It was as good as I remembered!
Pho - well, I eat and talk about pho so often...

Update...........after my asparagus lunch, I may have to drive an hour to the nearest Krispy Kreme. In the hour it will take to get back home, I will have devoured at least half of them, all thanks to Manc', aka TheManchesterKitchen on the coffee thread. My detour and derriere are all your fault!!! I take no blame whatsoever in this decision.
Hoping the asper grass will fill me and I'll change me mind. ;)

My work here is done, I apologize for nothing :)
TheManchesterKitchen at 3:16PM on 04/15/08
@Manc'..........hehe. After hard deliberation and taking the price of gas into account, and a quick weigh-in on the bathroom scale, all the while ignoring the growling of my stomach and the little Manc' on my shoulder extolling the virtues of Krispy Kreme donuts, I decided to go for it and have now downed exactly 11 Kreme filled donuts in your honor. I'm saving the last for a bedtime snack.
If I had a nap, that would have been my dream! Seriously, you tempted me, but I resisted. I still love you. ;-D

Fantastic! That has really made my day, I have a day off tomorrow and I am planning stopping off there and relieving them of 1 dozen of their baked goods!
Of course the love is reciprocated, the special love, the kind someone has for a donut :-)
TheManchesterKitchen at 5:25PM on 04/15/08
OMG Manc'! Donut love is everlasting, committed, never waivers. Don't you think donut love should be included in every wedding ceremony for clarity? Just imagine the decline in the divorce rate if we loved our spouses like we love donuts......mind boggling.
Since you love me too, can you ship a few dozen my way? It would save a lot of gas $ and time traveling, etc. Much appreciated! ;)

Ohhhhhh it's happened again! I wish I hadn't eaten all of my asparagus last night. I now want Asparagus with Egg & Parmesan.........sigh.

I will see what I can do! You should really think about starting a campaign to try and get one opened near by, or move house :)
Its true Donut love is a pure kind of love, and as such deserves a place in every major ceremony, be it a marriages or a Bar Mitzvah.
Its about 10:00 here and its a beautiful spring day, certainly a day for a dozen donuts in the park!
