Sangrita
My office is having a cinco de mayo party this year. Actually we are having an uno dy mayo party. This year we would like to have Sangrita. It is probably easiest to make it fresh but can I buy it pre made or a mix?
I am in NYC. Do you know of anywhere I can pick up Sangrita? Thanks.

Seems like it's probably sangria you want - and the best way to do it is to mix it yourself. It's traditionally comprised of red wine, brandy, fruit juice/fresh fruit. You can play with the ratios to achieve the flavor/drunkeness you desire.

Sangrita is a tomato juice based drink that is often used as a cocktail mixer, drink or chaser alongside tequila. It is usually spicy like a bloody mary. It is good for sipping tequila or shots, which ever you fancy. I had it once it was delicous. Really helps the tequila go down.
I love a good sangria as well though.

You mean Sangria? Don't buy a mix, they're all full of chemicals and taste bad - it'd be like mixing Carlo Rossi with Tang (not that I'd know).
It's a lot better-tasting and cheaper to make it on your own, and way more impressive.
Buy a couple of decent 1.5 L bottles of wine, which will cost about $12 each. Nothing too fancy since you'll be adding fruit and juice.
If you go with red, here's what you'll need for each bottle: 1/4c sugar dissolved in 1c orange juice, 1 orange sliced thinly, 1 lemon sliced thinly, 1c brandy.
For each bottle of white, you'll need 1/4c sugar dissolved in white grape juice or peach nectar, a few mint leaves, 1c light rum, 1 lime sliced thinly, and either two peaches or a pint of strawberries, sliced.
To make, mix the wine of your choice with all the other ingredients in a large pitcher and refrigerate at least an hour, up to overnight. Basically as long as you can wait. Serve with plenty of tortilla chips - these are strong but not alcoholic-tasting.

I was introduced to sangrita (and no it's not the same thing as sangria) last summer. WOW it makes tequila taste awesome.
Call up Astor Wines and see if they can help you track some down. Another idea would be to call up any restaurant that has an extensive tequila menu and see if they can point you in the right direction. Mesa Grill is the first place that comes to mind.

Try this-
1 gallon tomato juice
juice of 2 oranges
juice of 2 lemons
juice of 2 limes
1 onion (chopped)
1 canned chipotle pepper (or more for xtra spice)
mix the juices and throw in the spent lemons. mix in the onion, and chili and let it marinate for a day or two. i was just in mexico and got this recipe from a chef/instructor.
