my favorite spot in paris is called place dauphine, behind the palace of justice {and go visit la sainte chappelle while you're at it}. sit outside at au bar du caveau, have a drink and a snack, and watch the old men play boules in the square under the streetlamps.

Mmmm. My very first visit to Paris, I stayed in a hotel on the Pl Dauphine in what once was a printer's workspace. Extremely primitive, but I was young and it was Paris.

My favorite restaurant our last visit was probably L'Ambassade Auvergne,. You can read about it here: http://stlouiseats.typepad.com/st_louis_eats_and_drinks_/2007/08/paris-restauran.html

Have a swell time!

Cafe Angelina. the most decadent hot chocolate you will ever drink in your entire life. it is worth every euro.

Where are you going to be?

Places in the 5th arrondissement (Latin Quarter) where I stayed last year:

Academie de la Biere - http://www.academie-biere.com/

Ribouldingue (make reservations, or get there earlier)

There are so many places, many of them pricey and such. But usually any small quaint bistro is excellent. I spent a week there in Paris and the Loire valley and the worst meal I had was still great!

Check this out too if you plan on being near the 5th district http://www.chowhound.com/topics/410823

Check out the chocolate and zucchini blog. Lots of info there. And also David Liebowitz.

The Chocolate and Zucchini blog author just published a book on food shops and restaurants in Paris:

I'd definitely trust her.

I am envious.... I need to win the Lotto...
