I live in western NY and am pretty sure I spotted some the other day at my grocery store Tops. When I shop tomorrow I will check again and get back to ya!

try a small convenience store.....not a chain one.....

Do you mean spicy ginger beer? Stewart's makes a really good one that's available here in NY. Even in central PA, a well-stocked grocery store might have Goya ginger beer. If you manage to find an old tyme-themed shop, the kind that sells Moxie (like Rohrbach's, outside of Elysburg, PA!), they might have what you're looking for.

We were having a hard time finding good ginger beer to make our Dark & Stormies, so we called up our favorite Jamaican restaurant (The Jerk Pit in Richmond, VA--holla!) and bought a gallon of their homemade ginger beer.

Then one day, we decided to make our own ginger beer. Very easy, just water, fresh ginger root, sugar and yeast. Just a note of caution, don't leave it outside in the summer sun (we got drunk, I mean, we forgot and left the container outside on the deck). The next day, the container (re-purposed gallon water jug) was all puffed up and looked ready to explode. Kinda freaked us out, but that's why you're supposed to keep it cold, so the yeast and sugar don't go overboard...LOL.

Reed's makes a reaaaaaly refreshing and affordable ginger beer... i can get them in a four pack for $5 bucks at the local market. Yum!

Go to your local beer distributer and ask them to order you a case, my guy was always more than happy to do that for me, I used to drink an awful lot of Moscow mules and Dark's.

After a while he just kept a case in stock for me.

D&G is imported from Jamaica and has a really good smooth taste.

Old Tyme ginger beer is a product of Good-O in the Bronx, NYC. They have a website (www.good-o.com) but it's not for placing orders. I just talked to someone on the phone there and he said they had discontinued the large plastic bottles but were planning to bring back the smaller glass bottles soon. They say they can handle sending out an order of a case but I haven't tried this. It didn't sound like they were really set up for it. (Call them and bug them to make this stuff easier to get!) I also like their Good-O West Indian ginger beer for mixing but it's sweeter and only half as spicy as Old Tyme. No good if you want that heavy ginger kick. It's spicier than ginger ale though. I am going to try the beer distributor idea. I wish I had the space to brew my own.
