Let's make vinegar. maybe.

So I have a quarter bottle of TJ's white balsamic vinegar with a large floaty white thing in it that looks like a jelly fish. Rumor has it this is something fab and its called "the mother".

Poetic and all but what the eff do I do with this thing? Am I really missing out on the 8th wonder of the world if I pitch it? Anyone jacked around with making vinegar before?
