Lay down the boogie and play that funky music til ya die

Food music- bands (like Wild Cherry), and songs (like Sugaree by the Grateful Dead). The Soundtrack to "The Big Easy" while cooking shrimp creole.

These are some of my favorites. What are yours?

I almost forgot- "I melt with you" by Modern English, "Split open and Melt," by Phish, and of course the classic polka tunes: "There is no beer in Heaven" and "Beer barrel polka."

I wish I could be that creative, Kerosena. I generally open my myspace page and let the standalone player play through my play list.

HOWEVER, now that New Kids on the Block is doing a reunion tour (slgjsfdtergfnk!!!!!!!!!!!) I have foraged for my TAPES and have been reliving the memories.

I know there are some SE-ers out there that love them some NKOTB and will be a 30 something fighting for tickets and tshirts like we did 15 years ago. Everybody say "Woooaaahhhhaaaaoooooooo....HANGIN' TOUGH!!!"

If we're opening this to beverages, there is a whole wide world...

... but it starts, for me, with Warm Beer and Cold Women.

The sound track from "Oliver!" with the great song, "Food, Glorius Food". And the sound track to "Someone Is Killing The Great Chefs of Europe".

'Jambalaya' or 'Blueberry Hill' when cooking dishes from home.

Cibo Matto's 'Know Your Chicken' for poultry.

Luna's 'Renee is Crying' when cooking Asian dishes -- "Salt and pepper squid and Singapore noodles. I could look at your face for oodles and oodles."

Catherine Wheel's 'Creme Caramel' or Buffalo Tom's 'Tangerine' when making dessert.

Luna's 'IHOP' for breakfast. "Is there a doctor in the house? In the house of pancakes? You've got a banana split personality."

"Lache pas la potate (don't drop the potato in Cajun French)" when peeling potatoes!

Since we mentioned the beverages - "Red red wine"(I prefer the cover done by UB40). "Dinner Bell" by They Might Be Giants is also good. Oh, and how about "A Little Sugar in My Bowl" by Nina Simon and "Sugar, sugar" by The Archies for dessert?:-)

But I usually listen to Red Hot Chili Peppers (at least, somewhat food related:-)), Fountains of Wayne, Travis and The Coral when I cook. Or I put my iPod on "shuffle" and go with the flow:-)

"The Food Album" from Weird Al Jankovic:

Fat (Michael Jackson's "Bad")
Lasagna (Los Lobos' "La Bamba"
Addicted to Spuds (Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love")
I Love Rocky Road (Joan Jett's "I Love Rock & Roll)
Spam (REM's "Stand")
Eat It (Michael Jackson's "Beat It")
The White Stuff (NKOTB "The Right Stuff")
My Bologna ("My Sharona")
Taco Grande (Gerardo's "Rico Suave")
Theme From Rocky XIII (Aka: The Rye Or The Kaiser (Theme From Rocky XIII)) (Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger")

Dude, anything by Cream, Hot Tuna, Meatloaf or the Chili Peppers

And Brown Sugar by the Stones, The Lemon Song by Led Zepplin, Honey Pie by the Beatles, Lady Marmalade by Chaka Khan.

All music I actually love.

I'm really showing my age here, huh?

Tangerine Dream.

I'll probably think of more through the day, as I have a butt ton of meetings to go to all day. :P

Pork Soda (ok maybe not appetizing sounding) by Primus

Lips Like Sugar by Echo and the Bunnymen
She Don't Use Jelly by The Flaming Lips
Pulling Mussels from the Shell by Squeeze
Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Caramel by Suzanne Vega
Pump Up the Jam by Technotronic
Rapper's Delight by the Sugar Hill Gang

...even though I don't like the song, this is the best title ever: Get the Balsamic Vinegar -- Quick, You Fool

Oooh! One more: Peaches by the Presidents of the United States of America

Cheeseburger in Paradise.
That song from my fair lady Wouldn't it be loverly Lots of chocolate for me to eat
On top of spaghetti I found my poor meatball

Mama's Cooking by Marcia Ball

From Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks: "I Don't Want Love."

"If love makes you give up steak and potatoes (That's what you eat?) Rice, corn, chitlins, and tomatoes
If love makes you give up all those things
I don't want love

If love makes you give up ham and greens, Chicken pot pie and lima beans
If love makes you give up all them things
(Don't want it)
I don't want love..."

Hatlady, thought I was the only fan of Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks left. Bless you!

I'm so dull. I open up my internet radio player and listen to radio 4 on the bbc. It is sometimes comedy though...

Breakfast After Ten and X Amount of Words by Blue October.

Man or Animal by Audioslave also comes to mind.
