Jury Duty in Manhattan
Could anyone provide some interesting/good lunch options for a stint on jury duty in lower Manhattan? I figure there are some good places down in the area and I might as well take advantage. Thanks!!!

Go walking and look for food carts; with all the sitting you'll be doing the walking will be good. When I had jury duty back in 1996 I found a falafel cart and it was the best falafel I ever had. I bet Ed knows some places in the area. Hope your case is interesting and the judge keeps things moving along!

I live downtown, and I eat in:
Mocca- Church and Reade St.
kitchenette- Chambers near Greenwich
Zuckers- Chambers near W. Bway
Blue Spoon- (very small cafe) Chambers off Bway
Bouley Bakery- corner W. Bway and Duane
If you walk down Chambers, you can have a good selection
Mangez avec Moi- W. bway near Warren
If you have a specific cuisine and price in mind, that would be helpful

If it's anything like jury duty in PA, you don't have much time to walk somewhere, order and eat. You need something close and fast. You will most definitely want to get out of there for some fresh air. If you can, scope out the area ahead of time and know exactly where you're going, rain or shine. Parking at the courthouse is impossible, so there's no driving to and fro, just for lunch. Time IS of the essence.. Hope you get an interesting trial. Bring a great book, crossword puzzles, any wonderful diversion in case you get stuck sitting in a waiting room!

No specific cuisine in mind. I appreciate all the ideas. Last time I spent most of the breaks in Chinatown, but I wasn't too aware of the better places at the time.

how about Les Halles at 15 John Street (between Broadway and Nassau)? You can have a good sit-down lunch and even a glass of wine there for not too much money or time.

Great Vietnamese food at a whole bunch of places, right near the courthouse -- Centre Street, Baxter Street. Inexpensive and always good.

I was on jury duty a few weeks ago and tried a new place: AMAZING 66, on Mott ST. The food was very good, in fact, I went back the next day, this time with a co-juror. Make sure they give you the lunch menu! They serve a 4.95 lunch! This includes soup & entre. The first day, I had the sweet & sour chicken, which was very good. The second day I had mixed steamed fish (about 1.00 additional) which was also good.
It's a nice looking restaurant with a very nice staff. Enjoy.
