Is chocolate creme pie really the #3 most popular pie?

According to America's Favorite Pies Pie Chart, chocolate creme is the #3 most popular pie in America. For some reason I can't believe it - more popular than pecan? What part of the country is chocolate creme pie popular?

No Chess Pie! Where is my beloved Chess Pie?!? Pfft. This chart is bollocks.

...I've never even heard of chocolate creme pie...

For me it's #1

It is #2 for me, right behind cherry.

I've never heard of Chess Pie. What is it?

Chess Pie is our gift from the gods. It's made with eggs, butter, white suger, brown sugar, vanilla and corn meal. And ho-lee moley, is it good. You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess_pie

It's an old Southern favorite and my favorite pie in the world. :-)

I love chocolate creme pie. I grew up in MA. New Englanders love their pies....apple, cherry, chocolate creme and lemon meringue(sp?).

Lemon meringue and key lime are numbers one and two on my list of favorite pies. Chocolate cream pie is pretty far down the list for me but it's my sister's favorite. Same family, different pie genes.

I don't like chocolate cream pie.

My favourite? KEY LIME!
:-)

Next fav: Apple pie

Rhubarb and gooseberry are 2nd and 3rd; blackberry is my #1.

I have eaten more than a few chocolate creme pies but I wouldn't choose it over my favorites

Fudge Pecan, Pecan, Apple, Coconut Meringue (my mother made the best in the world).

We used to have a craft booth at a church festival every year. They sold slices of pie. Their best seller was Buttermilk pie which sounds similar to the Chess pie. Boy, was it good.

That, I can believe.
I like chocolate cream pie, but I'd still pick a warm slice of apple with a dollop of ice cream over it any day. mmmm tastes like hope

I can't believe that either. If anything, I'd think it would be at the bottom of the chart...or perhaps above lemon meringue, if it was limited to those pies listed. I'm also surprised that banana creme pie isn't listed, as someone mentioned on that post.

Lilikoi pies are pretty good, but not very easy to find even in Hawaii. :P

Is chocolate creme pie like chocolate MOUSSE pie? Cause THAT I can get behind. Chocolate creme doesn't sound very appetizing though, kind of like pudding in a crust.

Ew, chocolate creme pie. I'll take apple, berry, lemon meringue, key lime, peach or almost anything over that.

I adore chocolate, but I've never even seen chocolate cream pie. I'm guessing it's a regional favorite somewhere? Coconut cream pie and banana cream pie are two top favorites of mine.

I think it was #2 while I was in high school. #1 was Snicker's Pie.
As an adult, I have a fondness for real Key Lime Pie and Dutch Apple Pie.

I'm sorry I didn't hear you past the word "chocolate."

:)

I've seen lots of cream pies growing up, I haven't had that many--we used to fill a graham cracker prebaked crust with chocolate pudding, and I guess you could top it with whipped cream, which I don't like

I've had some great chocolate mousse pies, topped with chocolate shavings--I'm not a big fan of fruit pies, too sweet, usually.

Really, I'd always pick cake over pie, so my favorite would probably be Tollhouse Cookie Pie. Served warm.

Mmmm...Chocolate Cream Pie. Now there's a tasty treat. Deeeelicious. I want some. Now.

Although, it is 2nd to my ALL TIME FAVE: Boston Cream Pie. There is nothing better than a slice of Boston Cream Pie. Seriously. If you've never had one-you should change that. God it's good.
