Eating out in NYC with 1 year old?

My husband and I are going to spend the weekend in NYC (staying in Turtle Bay) with our 14 month old son in a couple of weeks. We'd love to sneak in at least one outstanding meal, nothing too fancy. Korean, Vietnamese or Mexican (not Tex-Mex) would be a plus. Caveat: my son tends to freak out a bit if the venue is overly intimate. The spot need not be cavernous, just a bit roomy.
Thanks for the help!

My first thought is, "don't", but I know you must, so...try Dos Caminos on Park Avenue South. Good Mexican food in a substantial venue. You, and the nino should be okay.

I don't know if when you say 'outstanding' meal you mean in a fancy place or just really yummy food, but I would go to Pho Grand in Chinatown for really delicious Vietnamese food. The place is intensely casual and they have little kids in there all the time and there's room to run around. It's on Grand at Forsyth - I highly recommend the sesame beef pho and the spring rolls.

I just went to a really excellent vegetarian Korean place a couple of weeks ago. www.hangawirestaurant.com

You take your shoes off when you enter and sit at low tables with cushions on the floor. There is a well cut out under the table so your feet can extend like your sitting in a chair though.

The atmosphere is very unique and the food was really excellent. Even my meat loving husband and father loved it. There is plenty of space all around each table too..take a look at the pics!

Good luck picking a place!

Centrico is a roomy, kid-friendly place with excellent Mexican food. Details here.

By 'outstanding' I do not mean trendy or pricey. Do not have a problem with spending on food, but want to avoid the kind of place that looks at us with a frown when they see a little tyke...

Pho Grand isn't a bad idea but I think Bao Noodles work well too. www.baonoodles.com

Dim Sum A Go Go has a lot of space too (relatively speaking).
