Zippy Dogs Anyone???
In grade school, circa 1969, we were served something called a "Zippy Dog" which was a hot dog with melted cheese wrapped in a dough and baked. I know it sounds like the crescent roll recipe but it wasn't that. It was almost like you got an entire loaf of bread wrapped around the dog.
Does anyone have a recipe for something like this or does anyone know how I would go about getting recipes from my old grade school?
I have to stop now as my mouth is watering.......

@Hunnyoil, never had the precise thing you're describing, but we had something similar. They had a name for them, but I don't recall what it was. We just called them cheezy dogs.
They took a slice of white pullman bread and topped it with a slice of American cheese. A hot dog was placed diagonally on top of that (corner to corner). The two opposing corners were brought up and toothpicked shut. The assembled cheesy dogs were baked in an oven until the bread was toasted. They were served with "special sauce" which was yellow mustard mixed with a little mayo and sweet pickle relish. As a child, I disliked hot dogs, and I despised American cheese, but I just loved these silly things, as did almost everyone else.

Thanks but these were like incased inside of dough. Kind-of like a Puka Dog from Hawaii.
