Where's my lint brush???

Just returned from a long, relaxing lunch where, rising from my seat, I was covered with white lint from the tablecloth and napkin (I wear black all the time).

Does this just happen to me or are there other "victims" out there? We dined at Morton's last week and I was supplied with a BLACK napkin...should other restaurants take a cue from them?

Happens to me all the time. I hate it.

When I am wearing dark clothing and dining out, if a dark napkin is not offered to me, I generally ask for one. Morton's gives one right away. Most of the finer restaurants do. I strongly feel all restaurants should definitely take a cue from Morton's! I can not even begin to count the number of times I have gotten up from a table covered with lint!

I, too, wear black pants all the time and hate being attacked by white napkin lint. I usually ask but am not always accomodated, so I have finally geared up with lint brushes: one for my purse and one in my car.

Purse-sized lint roller. Don't leave home without it!

Brilliant - never thought to reject white napkin. Will always ask from now on.

Most of the nicer restaurants automatically supply a black napkin if the diner is wearing black. Lately I've been noticing that more and more white napkins have no lint, i.e. they are a poly blend, I hate the way they feel, but then there's little or no lint.
Please let's not credit Morton's with the black napkin idea...it's been floating around for years...I think the majority of servers just don't think about it b/c your lap is generally hidden by the table by the time they approach your table.

Any Four Seasons Hotel restaurant will automatically bring you a black napkin based on your outfit. Also, Bar Americain is very good about this as well. Big pet peeve!!

I was impressed with the Capital Grille when a black napkin was automatically placed on my lap -- and this was a few years ago.
