What do you eat when you're feeling under the weather?

I know a lot of people swear by chicken noodle soup, but does anyone have any other foods they turn to when they're feeling under the weather? For some reason grilled cheese sandwiches seem to sound good to me when I'm sick and nothing else does.

Chicken and rice - Boiled chicken shredded and cooked together with rice, onion, celery, carrots, and thyme until it's a tight mix. It is sick food for me.

Eggs & toast, macaroni & cheese, rice pudding

I have made so many comfort foods when a family member was feeling off the mark. My chicken pasta soup is always the most requested. Followed by my escarole with orzo and meatballs. For me personally, give me Mac 'n Cheese, thank you very much! Next up a grilled cheese. after that, it must be an IV, because I would be way too sick to speak!!

As long as it's not a tummy thing, the only things I want to eat when I'm sick are Big Macs and Fries, which is not something I regularly eat. It's something about the salt and the texture and whatever, but I make my friends bring it to me if I'm laid up.

toast with hot tea

an omelet and a glass of wine (if there's no meds involved)

oatmeal and tea and toast

(Not at all creative but who wants creative when you feel lousy?)

Carbs. Bowls of rice or noodles with butter and toast.

I'm also a sucker for Jello-pop. Add Jello powder to 1 cup of hot water, it has to be red (cherry or raspberry). After it dissolves pour it over ice. My mother always made this for me and it really is awesome on a sore throat.

No matter what the illness, my mom makes everyone take the "wine cure". Glass of wine + 2 advil. Not exactly food, but... usually works surprisingly well...

For some reason, whenever any of us are sick we crave Wonton Soup or Yat Gaw Mein (Chinese Noodle Soup with Roast Pork). I think I started this when I was young and my kids and husband just picked up on it!

Dreyers whole fruit popsicles, pho or saltines. My husband eats an ungodly amount of Ruffles when he's ill.

Hot (as in fresh baked/cooked) Carbohydrates and chocolate.

(Both of which, strangely, have been kind of scientifically proven to have actual soothing effects on the body...)

My dad's scrambled eggs.

Applesauce
Toast
Hot ginger tea
PBJ on whte bread

I like vermicelli noodles in a bowl of homemade chicken broth with a fried egg on top and just a few drops of soy sauce and sesame oil. I know it's strange, but it's very comforting to me.

ginger ale and saltines. that usually makes me feel human again.

When I was little my Mom used to make me a soft boiled egg, toast bread, cut it into strips and we would march the toast strip "soldiers" into the egg yolk. That and orange juice mixed with ginger ale always make me feel cared for, even as an adult.

I'm not a big fan of chicken soup, but I will eat it when I'm sick because I know it has medicinal properties.
I love scrambled eggs & toast when I'm sick, and I've just discovered how much I love hot tea w/rum & honey when I'm sick....it definitely helps cure what ails me! :-)

hot and sour soup! When i was recovering from surgery the last time I think I ate a tanker truck of the stuff!

i love hot & sour soup .. I'm making it tonight!

Grilled cheese (cheddar) on wheat bread with homemade tomato soup. (Of course when I was a kid my mom made Campbell's tomato soup and the grilled cheese was Kraft American slices on Wonder bread.)

A bowl of green chile and pinto beans. Vitamin C from the chile and nourishing beans. Comfort food.

For the most part, I do not feel like eating at all when I am sick (or nervous, or upset, or stressed out, for that matter). When I was little, the first thing I would (almost gleefully:-)) declare when it appeared that I was falling ill was, "I am not eating!" Now, when I am still under the weather but starting to feel somewhat better, I can get really weird cravings - from caviar to eggs (scrambled, soft-boiled, egg salad, you name it) to Chinese food, but no matter what it is, it is always salty rather than sweet.

giant bowls of noodles - Asian or Italian.

popsicles if it's one of those colds/flus where I don't want to eat & especially with a sore throat.
Corn chowder or any kind of soup is good too, maybe chicken curry.

Pho, especially when my I'm congested. I love putting a ton of peppers in it.

If I'm too sick to get out of the house, I'll eat rice with hot green tea poured over it, with sprinkles of nori on top and pickled Japanese vegetables on the side.

Soup, scrambled egg whites, hot tea, rice -- Those are the four staples for me.

Scrambled eggs with ketchup. White bread (as soft as possible) with Welch's grape jelly. Streit's matzoh with whipped butter. Social Tea biscuits. Tea with lots of milk.

Breakfast for dinner always makes me feel good. Lots of eggs, hashbrowns (with hot sauce), even pancakes. I think I like it so much because my mom used to make breakfast for dinner when I was a kid.

Miso soup & fried gyoza. Especially after a "rough" night....

Rice, pastina, chicken soup. And if I am too sick cook it myself, I'll open up a can of Progresso Chickarina soup.

Dragon and Phoenix soup - shrimp and chicken in broth, green onions, fresh ginger, noodles...

Vegetable Noodle Soup with a squirt of lemon juice, Mashed Potatoes with Olive Oil and many times, I crave Macaroni and Cheese...

Mashed potatoes, no gravy.

Mac and cheese, rice, chicken soup. If there's leftover spaghetti, that's wonderful. But I don't cook very well when I'm sick, so I stick to very plain things and let hubby fend for himself. Otherwise he has to deal with my odd sense of taste, which can result in some odd flavors in the end product.

Coffee nearly always tastes terrible to me when I'm sick, as does any sort of seafood. Many other things take on a weird or metallic taste, so I'm best off sticking to the few things that I know will be okay.

As soon as I'm feeling better, the first thing I crave is a big steak or beef roast.

Anything unhealthy: Mac and cheese, pizza bagels, Mcdonalds hamburgers. I take comfort in killing myself slowly apparently.

Chew on That

When I'm sick, I love ramen noodles with hot sauce. Something about the hot salty broth and the spicyness really makes me feel better. Other favorites: crackers, pad thai, mac&cheese, grilled cheese (cheddar on wheat only!), or chicken pot pie.
