Networking Location In San Francisco
My company is planning on having a small networking event in San Francisco in April for about 40 to 50 people, just for a couple of hours and in a relaxed setting, like a restuarant or a lounge. The idea is for women to come together and enjoy a cocktail and a few appetizers and get to know one another. However, I am having trouble finding a decent location for that, since hotels are too expensive, and I am unfamiliar with the restuarants there. Does anyone know of any places that might be nice for this? I would really appreciate any help that anyone can provide!

If you are willing to arrange for catering, I can highly recommend Harbor House in Princeton-By-The-Sea (Half Moon Bay), about 30 minutes south of SF, on the San Mateo coast. They have a conference center right on the harbor. GREAT views. There is a B&B associated if you want to stay the weekend. Don't know how many rooms that has though. See Harbor House.
And there's the Beach Inn, also on Half Moon Bay. The Beach Inn is likely to be pretty expensive though.

if it's informal, i'd recommend Crossroads Cafe. the space is large, everyone pays their own. No cocktails but beer and wine is available. If it's warm, there's an outside patio.

I put together a beautiful cocktail reception and tour at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco a couple of years ago...I planned it sight-unseen from the east coast and we not only had a fantastic private tour, we had a beautiful space (perfect for the size of your group) for apps and wine afterward...price was reasonable as well!

Traveler - there's a number of places that might be great for you. Depends on what you're interested in. Medjool in the mission has a sky terrace that would be great for relaxing; has 360 views of the city which in April should be beautiful. There are also a number of really good wine bars that you could "take over", depending on the date / time including Nectar Wine Lounge and A16 (both in the marina) and the Hidden Vine (union square). Finally, Chaya on the embarcadero is a great place to unwind and I think they have a private room. Let me know if you want some more suggestions; can't really go wrong with a lot of these places in the city!
