looking for some non-chickpea chickpea recipes
i love chickpeas. i eat those suckers right out of the can. i never met a chickpea i didn't want to eat.
my husband knows chickpeas are healthy for him, but he doesn't like hummus, doesn't like the "chickpea tabbouli" (exactly what it sounds like, swap the bulgar for chickpeas) I make, doesn't like chick-pea dishes where the chickpeas are the main attractions.
any suggestions for recipes that include chickpeas, but aren't chickpea centric?

From one redhead to another, I can advise you to try this recipe (or one similar to it):
It's a Biryani with Chickpeas and Vegetables - rich, filling, many layers of flavor and texture. :)

I love Pasta Ceci (pasta cheech). You can cut back on the chick peas if you like to camouflage them a little but you should give this a try.

I love chickpeas, too, and face similar issues. Although everyone here likes hummus, whole chickpeas aren't a favorite of hubby and some of the kids. If your husband likes lentils, try making a version of Harira. I make several harira-like dishes, and they are super popular in our house, since the chickpeas are generally in small quantities.

You could make the famous Veganomicon chickpea cutlets, if you have vital wheat gluten! A quick Google will find you the reputedly amazingly delicious and meaty recipe. :)

Second on the chickpea cutlets - they really are great.

Lots of soups, stews, and sauces use ingredients other than simple starches to thicken them. It borders on concealment (a hotly debated subject some months back) but I quite often use blended, cooked legumes for that very purpose. No, I don't tell the eater that they are eating something other than what is being served; just don't make and issue of the ingredient list. I certainly wouldn't do this with someone who may have alergies that I'm not aware of.

I make Mediterranean Chickpea Latkes that are wonderful...they have cumin and rosemary in them and make a great side dish! The original recipe was from Rozanne Gold and I saw her make the latkes on the Today Show, so it was posted on msn.com. You may still be able to find it by Googling...

I made this last week: fideos with shrimp & chickpeas. The chickpeas were definitely in there, but not overwhelming. I think it's my new favorite recipe.

Do a pasta with Garlic, Olive oil and Basil, throw some chick peas in them. Good Eatin.

You should try socca (farinata in Italy) - chickpea flour crepes. They are so good. Mark Bittman had this article/recipe in the NYTimes a while back, it's a yummy side dish or snack!

You can always make a lovely Moroccan tagine (I like the one with eggplant, olives, tomatoes, raisins, cinnamon, and a bunch of other yummy stuff that's in Didi Emmons' "Vegetarian Planet") and throw in a few chickpeas ... and then, of course, there's falafel. Yes, they're made from chickpea paste, but they don't really taste like it. And they're deep fried. Deep fried. Rule of thumb: if they don't like it, deep fry it.
