I need good eats! Memphis, Reno, Phoenix
My boyfriend and I have possible trips lined up for Phoenix, AZ, Memphis, Tennessee and Reno, Nevada. Does anyone know where to get good eats in any of these cities. I'll eat and am willing to try just about anything and my boyfriend likes stick to your ribs comfort food. Anyone have any suggestions?

We have a post on Serious Eats about where to eat in Phoenix. Also, I have a map of places I've written about on my website. Hope that helps! I'd love to go back there and eat more. >_

in Phoenix Claim Jumper is pretty fair the only real ourtstanding thing I found on their menu was their grilled asparagus (Yummmm) Believe it or not I also enjoyed Cooperstown Alice Coopers resteraunt the ribs are really tasty and the smoked ruben is a real treat!

Memphis is for barbecue. Avoid the touristy Rendezvous. Their quality has really tanked in recent years. I recommend Interstate Bar-BQ 2265 S 3rd St, or Corky's in their original location on Poplar Ave. Have fun!

Yeh, Phoenix!
For decent ribs, try Honey Bear's--there's one downtown and one in my neighborhood in East Phoenix: http://www.honeybearsbbq.com/.
If you want some soul food, there are actually a handful of places, but my go-to is Lo-Lo's Chicken and Waffles, south of downtown: http://www.loloschickenandwaffles.com/
For breakfast, I like to walk over to the mom 'n' pop place, Ranch House Grille at 5618 E. Thomas Rd.--consistently good and friendly to the finances.
If you'd like a quiet French lunch or nice dinner, you could try Sophie's: http://www.sophiesbistro.com/menus.cfm
I can enthusiastically second quite a few things on the Serious Eats post. Cowboy Ciao, Cafe Lalibela, La Grande Orange (both the pizzeria, the grocery, and especially their sister restaurant up the street at Camelback and 40th--Chelsea's Kitchen for contemporary American food), Quiessence, and Barrio Cafe. Lon's and the Sugar Bowl are pretty good, too. I like several things at Claim Jumpers, but it's a chain--not local. I like their cheesy potato soup--not healthy, but great comfort food. I also liked their lamb shank plate and their fish 'n' chips platter. I haven't tried the other places yet. There's a good restaurant review blog with maps and photos here: http://www.phxrailfood.com/

I second Library Lady's vote for the Interstate. Do not miss the barbecued spaghetti (trust me it tastes about 500 times better than it sounds).

Ohhhhh.... if you are in Memphis you HAVE to go to Gus's Fried Chicken. Trust me. It will be life changing. I was born and raised in the south and it is the best I've ever eaten. As far as barbecue goes in Memphis... well... I didn't care for much of it. Huey's for burgers. Yummmm...

Oh, as far as the link to my blog goes- don't think we are blathering idiots- we were on a 'dive' food joint quest. Soooo... in that context a 10 means it's really 'dive-ish'. lol

For Memphis BBQ, I would recommend Cozy Corner (North Parkway near Danny Thomas) if you don't mind grabbing your food in a bad location or Nelly's/Interstate BBQ (multiple locations).
I would also recommend Lobster King (Chinese) and Saigon Lee (Vietnamese), both on Cleveland near Jefferson, for Asian.
I'll also second Gus's for fried chicken, but I prefer heading out to Mason, TN to check out the original.
I would also say that Old Venice on Perkins has some of the most delicious pizza I have ever eaten.
For a delicious burger in a place you wouldn't necessarily expect it, check out the Soul Burger at Earnestine and Hazel's (an old brothel on South Main)
For classier fare (but not over-the-top nice), I would recommend Interim (on Sanderlin), McEwans, and Lolo's Table (both next to eachother downtown on Madison).
I could keep going, but I think that's more than enough.
