Big Wong's on Mott and Bayard is a classic go to for me for a "hanging duck in the window" type restaurant. Great N.Y. Noodletown on the corner of Bayard and Bower is good for that type of place too.
Nyonya on Grand is good for Malaysian.
I go to Flushing for dim sum so can't make a Chinatown rec for there...
Don't forget to go to Chinatown Ice Cream Factory for a scoop of the almond cookie ice cream!
Happy eating!

You've already had your lunch but I'd love to know where you went!
I was in NYC last year and my BF and I ate at the Peking Duck House on Mott Street. I hadn't had real Peking Duck in years and really craved it.
I also love Hop Kee (21 Mott) although I'm not sure if it's still there. It's down one flight of stairs. Winning dishes: Crabs Cantonese and Snails with Black Bean Sauce. Used to round out the meal with Noodles with Beef and Tomato. First time I ever had salad tomatoes cooked.
There's a bakery called Lung Moon which I love and which as been there forever. Beautiful pastries - and for that guilty crunchy pleasure, they have shrimp chips.
