Charlotte, NC

I'm heading to Charlotte, NC in May, any restaurant suggestions while I'm down there? I have no preferences, just looking for some tasty food. thanks

Hi! I lived in Charlotte for over ten years... there are quite a few good restaurants there. If you have the time (like three hours!) go to the McNinch House. Patou is superb if you love French food. Price's Chicken Coop for the best fried chicken ever and Lupie's for good home cooked meals. Village Tavern for casual fun. Upstream for INCREDIBLE seafood. Nikko for sushi. The Original Pancake House for a yummy (non chain) breakfast. Fuel Pizza for fabulous pizza and funky atmosphere.

thanks for the info. I'll try to check out some of these places.

Price's Chicken Coop is supposed to rock.

Here's the link to the John T. Edge piece from Southern Belly that we posted on Serious Eats: www.seriouseats.com/eating_out/2008/03/north-carolina-charlotte-prices-chicken-coop.html

If you're looking for authentic Italian pizza, I can highly recommend Luisa's Brick Oven. From the outside, the restaurant doesn't look much but the pizzas are baked in an oven that was imported from Italy and having been to Italy, the thin crust pizzas are really authentic. I don't remember the exact location but your favorite search engine will bring you the results.

hey Ed thanks for the link....and what a great website you have!! i LOVE it!!
