When feelin' grumpy, I like to eat _____

It's one of those days when you are feeling ouchy, irritated, grouchy, cranky and totally annoyed...what's your food cure-all?

Mac and cheese or ice cream.

When I'm mad, it's different than grumpy. When I'm mad, I don't eat, I clean and tidy and rearrange things.

When I don't feel well, I crave Burger King Whoppers with cheese, Campbell's Tomato Rice Soup with Ritz crackers on the side. Or Cheetos. Or mac and cheese. Or rice.

When I was a kid, mom's stress-reliever was soup. Not to eat it, but to cook it. Whacking at the vegetables made her feel better, I guess. I may never forget the day that I came home from school and there were 4 pots of different kinds of soups bubbling away on the stove, and she was still chopping. I wasn't sure if I wanted to be there for dinner or not. The soup looked good, but there was trouble brewing as well.

Eggs and toast

salty (cheesy) carbs. see also: pizza, nachos, cheetos, doritos, etc.

homemade bread. especially cornbread. reminds me of childhood, when i was never grumpy. not for long anyway. maybe they bribed me with cornbread.

Hormones. ;D

give me chocolate and then leave the room, that way noone gets hurt.

a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates. i am the epitome of health.

Yogurt with granola.

Oatmeal, couscous, pasta, bulgur wheat, nut butters, cheese.

Basically, I want carbs and fat. Together. And something that's quick and mindless to make.

Personally, I like Perky's idea best! I'm not quite to the hot flash age yet, but it's rapidly approaching. Meanwhile, I have days where I'm the psycho-PMS-beyotch from hell!

But seriously, I'm pretty much open to anything that I don't have to fix. When I'm in a bad mood, I do housework. Frenzied housework. Stay out of my way housework. Ranting and raving if one thing is out of place housework. But I don't cook. For some reason, I only like to cook when I'm happy. If I'm sour, it's just a chore.

So, take me out to dinner, or get me some fat-laden take-out, and I'm good. Or, in keeping with my original response, a bottle of wine, a loaf of good bread, and maybe some cheese. And leave me alone.

@LoCo.......I was 36. No kidding. Mom had a baby at 46. Go figure.

Grumpy happens a lot in my job. Fortunately, there are about 400 Mexican restaurants in town, and a good, hot Mexican meal does wonders for the stomach and the soul. Each of those restos does at least //one// dish that is world-class. The fun is in finding those recipes, and then choosing the restaurant based on what I'm hungry for.

I'm not really an emotional eater -- when I'm cranky or annoyed the best thing to do is go to the movies or go running. I'm more likely to chow when I'm happy or relaxed. There was a line in "Sex Lies and Videotape" where Andi MacDowell (sp?) says something like, "I don't think happiness is so great. I was happy once and I got... so... fat." I laughed out loud!

When I'm grumpy, or nervous, or angry, or cranky, or annoyed, I can't eat at all. If it's not nasty outside, I go for a walk and "walk it all out":-). If not, I may have a glass of wine. Or two.

an entire loaf of crusty baguette slathered with unsalted butter.

If I'm really crabby and upset I lose my appetite. So I usually do some deep breathing, yoga and meditate. Mostly I meditate about the bottle of wine and cashews I'm going for when I'm done meditating. Then maybe a cookie and espresso.

Pho is a cure-all for me. I forget about the world when I'm absorbed with my bowl of pho. =)

Yes I do.......

I'm with the don't eat crowd--it's sure to make me feel even worse. I run...fast.

It's weird, when I'm grumpy or pissy I don't really like to eat. It's one of the few times that I have no appetite at all, but I really love to cook when I'm pissed. Kneading bread, pulvarizing garlic, bashing on meat with a tenderizer- it's way cheaper than therapy.

Elbow macaroni with good meat sauce. Just like my mom used to make me when I was a kid. It's like italian valium in a bowl.

everything in sight

Small children.

Obviously I'm kidding.

I don't think "me want cookie" when I'm grumpy, grouchy, sad, etc. I think, "how can I take this out on my husband?" LOL, I'm only half kidding...misery loves company.

I definitely don't enjoy food when in a bad mood.

a giant bowl of pasta covered in hard, salty cheese

.... none of your god damned business.

@srhcb... ha! classic!

(sounds like you need a bottle of wine)
