SMALL APPLIANCE DYING GROUND
I have a closet in my home that seems to have become a dying ground for small appliances. I can't part with them even though I hardly use them. Waffle irons, a few Farberware coffee pots, a mini processor and a cappuccino machine that was a gift are just a few. Does anyone else have the same thing?? After all you never know when you might need them!!

BF's going through coffee makers like tissues. It's largely my fault, as I'm the caffeine addict. What really grills me is that these small appliances seem to be designed not to last long. With today's "disposable" mentality, it's just easier to buy another one so you can't find a repair person even if you want to try and salvage the unit.
As for keeping old broken stuff...It's rare. I'd only keep an appliance that doesn't work for sentimental reasons and I'm happy to say I don't have that much sentimentality toward any of my electrical appliances...to date.

I just don't have enough room in my kitchen. Countertop has microwave, toaster oven, coffee pot. I have appliances on carts, foyer closet and laundry room shelf. From memory there are 2 slow cookers, waffle iron, George Forman thing, coffee pot, electric griddle, electric frying pan, mixer, food processor, immersion blender, electric knife....those are the electrics I actually use now and then. I'm sure I've forgotten some I don't. I did like my electric tea kettle, but that and the can opener bit the dust and I didn't replace. I once had a banquet sized coffee pot. Must have left it somewhere? Or misplaced such a monster sized appliance? Not to mention the way too many pots and pans and lids that reproduce when I'm sleeping. I'm getting ready to move and downsize. What am I going to do???

I have two immersion blenders- a "good" cordless one that won't hold a charge for more than 20 seconds, and a garage sale model purchased for $1.00. It's hard for me to throw out the "good" one, even though it barely works.
I rarely use my panini maker. Like, it's been at least 2 years.
I got a blender with a big, strong motor about a year ago and haven't used my mini food processor since.
Step grandmother gave me her travel coffee maker from 1973. Have not used it, but was unable to turn her down.

I love gadgets, but since moving from a very large kitchen the size of my living room to a kitchenette, most of my gadgets are keeping the dustbunnies company near the ceiling on the top of my cabinets where I can't reach -- out of site, out of mind.
Food processor, 2 practically new toasters, new taco shell fryer, once-used deep fryer, new tortilla maker, glass blender, and a new steamer; the new stuff being gifts.

Richard---have you been looking in my cupboards?:) I'm guilty---have a gifted blender, a handmixer, 4-cup coffee maker (never used) but also have mutiple never-used-in-years-but-refuse-to-throw-away tupperware containers:( Since I hate left-overs, this last one totally does not make any sense!

We just expanded our kitchen and added a six-ft by ten-ft pantry. My dear hubby said it's for all my kitchen gadgets that have been overflowing the garage shelves for several years now. I am the kitchen gadget queen -- ask me, and I bet I've got it. I usually use it, too! (Haven't actually used the chocolate fountain yet. Looking forward to on Valentine's Day.)
Think I'll go pull out the quesadilla maker for dinner tonight...
