'I Drank your Milkshake!'

Lately, I've gleaned way too much amusement exclaiming the quote above. It's source? Daniel Day-Lewis. He's magnificient in the film _There_Will_Be_Blood_, which I saw a few weeks ago.

What's your favorite milkshake flavor? I'd like to know if I'm going to drink it. Heh.

Ha! I love this post. Well, I can't say I've ever met a milkshake I didn't like, but I think I would go first for a brown cow malted -- vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup and malt powder. If you want to drink mine, you'll have to catch me first! :)

Cute Susquehanna! I'll make ours with whole milk, good vanilla ice cream and tons of hershey chocolate syrup. Do you want whipped cream on top?

I like Dairy Cream's milkshakes (haven't had one in years), but I've had others that stayed solid in the refrigerator for days. What's in them......gelatin?

Do I get a sip before you sneak it away?

I'm a huge fan of the simple vanilla milkshake (shut up!) made with a really good vanilla ice cream. To my mind, nothing else even comes close. Yum. Damn these boards. Well, I guess today's lunch has been decided.

Chocolate peanut butter. Seriously. There was a drive-in in my hometown called Pinney's (Clarence and Beverly, please come back to us! This town hasn't been the same since you left!) and they had a zillion milkshake flavors. Chocolate peanut butter was my favorite and I'd LOVE to have one again.

Hot Fudge & Peanut Butter milkshake...I used to work in an ice cream parlor in high school and probably made this milkshake almost every shift. It's amazing I didn't weigh a ton then!

Very few things beat a good old milk chocolate Swenson's (burger drive-in in Ohio) milkshake in my world!

And I can't wait for "There Will Be Blood" to come out on dvd, there were so many of Daniel Day Lewis' lines that I can't get out of my head--such a performance!

Butterscotch malt, all the way. Mmm...

coffee. or chocolate malted. and i can remember the last time i had one, too. in a diner in brooklyn, about 12 years ago. with a grilled cheese sandwich.

now it's a dairy free jamba juice, size small. if i'm lucky. sigh.

The milkshake that Australian Homemade makes with real Belgian chocolate ^_^

Yum...

uhhhh........I want it back?

caramel milkshake at the Shake Shack!

chocolate cinnamon from cold stone

Vanilla with oreos. The best.

Just about any flavor as long as it's homemade & thick enough for the straw to stand straight up.

Mocha. Or good vanilla. And I'm with JEP, it has to be homemade.

my very favorite of all-time.... chocolate milkshake.

And if it's fruity, Frutabomba Milkshake, more comonly known as a papaya milkshake... mmmmm.

mmm a good coffee milkshake, though choc bananna is yummy too so is strawberry with fresh berries, or or OMG milkshake overload!

It's got to be eggnog with a little nutmeg ground on top.

black and white!

I hate chocolate milkshakes when made w/ chocolate ice cream, love them when made with vanilla ice cream and choc syrup. go figure. I've never been able to figure out why. with or without a banana in them.

My dad and I used to make milkshakes with vanilla ice cream and homemade boysenberry jam- those were pretty good too. I should try that again sometime.

no whip cream on mine please- that totally ruins them.

A cookout Vanilla Peanut Butter milkshake!!!

the best milkshake i ever had, was made with toasted almond ice cream and it was thick enough to eat with a spoon.

Shamarock.

Or Peanut Butter

Chocolate malted all the way. Why is it that shakes taste so good with hamburgers? Is it a sweet/savory thing like chocolate covered pretzels? Don't know, but it just works.

Mmmm peanut butter and oreos blended with vanilla ice cream would hit the spot right now. Sometimes I have to be a purest and go with vanilla or strawberry.

Vanilla Oreo shake, chocolate, mint choc. chip (as long as it's well-blended, so as not to choke me while I'm drinking it!). And maybe I'm weird, but I love the neapolitan from In-N-Out. It's always a surprise what flavor is going to come next -- vanilla, chocolate or strawberry.

This sounds completely disgusting in theory, but in reality, it's completely crave-worthy. My favorite flavor milkshake is called the "Shakin'(sp?) Jesse", made at Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe in Emeryville, CA. It's a chocolate, espresso and Guinness milkshake, and it's divine.

I thought it was "I drink your milkshake." Drink or drank, make mine mint chocolate chip from Baskin Robbin's! It's the only ice cream I'd use to make a mint chip milkshake, those little chocolate flakes fit up through the straw.

Grub Street's take.

I occasionally enjoy a good, thick milkshake with french fries at a local diner. As a meal. The combo hits a savory/sweet and hot/cold spot. Opposites really complement each other sometimes.

Does anybody else do this? I even dip my fries in the shake sometimes.

I've done it since I was in 4th grade, when I'd rally up a posse to go ride our bikes up to the nearby Wendy's to get fries and Frosties. I once stole my older sister's babysitting money so I could buy for everybody. Just imagine the fallout on that one. She still tells the story.

@LizNYC: I Googled the both phrases and I think you are correct. Thanks for pointing that out.

the artificially flavored strawberry stuff, reminds me of childhood at foster's freeze.

Oh man. I'm nine months pregnant and simply MUST have a chocolate milkshake today. The only problem is I don't remember the last time I had a milkshake, and don't know where to find one!

I think it's time to haul out the blender I hate using.

It really depends on what mood I'm in, but I've always liked vanilla, chocolate and black and white (chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce and marshmallow cream). Peanut butter also sounds tasty. And, even though I like Oreos, an Oreo milkshake does not sound appealing.

My current favorite is a custom Peanut Butter / Date shake from Blenders in the Grass:
Non-fat milk, peanut butter, dates banana, ice milk

delicious and nutritious!

Was that not the most incredible movie? And the most incredible actor in the most (you know it)...incredible scene!!

beatle9, if you like Oreos, I am quite confident you'll love an Oreo milkshake. Even the ones made with Tasty D-lite (an edible food-like substance I am not fond of) are delicious! Give it a try.

Also, I really want to try the Brown Cow Malted shake. Where do I get one of those?

I prefer to stick with classic flavors when it comes to milkshakes and would be hard pressed to pick a favorite among vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. That neopolitan sounds just the thing!

Vanilla malted/chocolate malted/coffee malted.

I even like the malt powder all by itself.

Ben and Jerry's mint oreo milkshake. RIP:(

Any milkshake from Amy's Ice Creams in Austin!

Peanut butter and chocolate, or if that's too rare, peanut butter. Or if that can't be had, strawberry with real strawberries. Or else chocolate. Heck, just give me a milkshake now, please.

Avocado milkshake with vanilla ice cream. Creamy avocado, mmm... Sometimes added a handful of pistachios, too, for salt and even more fat.

A caramel malt shake from Dairy Queen. Or a chocolate mint shake from Steak - n- Shake. We used to get a rootbeer milkshake from a small mom and pop place when I was a kid. They were great.

@Susquehanna..........after drinking all these milkshakes, your tummy should be feeling a might full and your brain frozen?

Peppermint, from Peterson's Ice Cream in Chicago

@PerkyMac: Heh. I'd probably have expired by now, dying from hypothermia. And I doubt I have the ability to metabolize that much lactose. I'd bloat-up and then die of *embarrassment* from the uncontrollable effects. LOL.

We had a Dip and shake party a while back and the shake part of it was all custom. I had fruits and candy bars and PBJ and desserts of all kinds out. Ppl got to custom make what they wanted. We had a PBJ shake made w milk. We had one girl do a white chocolate rasberry shake w mango top. We had an Elvis shake w PB and banana mixed w ice cream. But by far the best of the night was the apple pie shake. He took a piece of my homemade apple pie, threw it in the blender with a huge chunk of cinnamon ice cream. MY GOSH, it was so good!!

I want to see this movie! In terms of milkshakes, up until the other day, I would have shamefully said I love Shamrock shakes....from McDonalds. Maybe it was something about them being around for a limited time but I used to love them, until I had one the other day and it was nastiness in a cup.

Ok, I am from Eastern Massachusetts. We, and those in Rhode Island and southern NH and Maine, consider a milkshale to be milk and syrup processed in a drink blender, Thats is right, no ice cream!

If ice cream is added, it is a FRAPPE or, In Rhode Island only, a CABINET.

I feel sorry for those in less civilized parts who have never enjoyed a REAL milkshake.
