Do you eat in bed?

I've always wondered if this is somewhat normal, or totally bizarre. So every now and then when I don't feel like being around people, when I haven't cooked for anyone but myself or if I just feel like being as cozy as possible; I'll have dinner in bed. I usually do it when a show I really want to watch is on; like Anythony Bourdain, Project Runway or anything Food Network related- which adds an all new level of crazy if you think about it. Eating in bed while watching the Food Network sounds like indulging to the point of being sinful. Anyhow, am I weird for this? Do any of you eat in bed?

Why yes, yes I do eat in bed. I realize that some people think it's weird or gross. Don't care.

I'm in the "ew, gross" camp. It follows without saying that I think breakfast in bed is really nasty.

Dining in bed isn't weird at all. I adore breakfast in bed. What a cozy lazy way to start the day. My son Izzy loves breakfast in bed too. Sadly my husband thinks dining in bed is a messy thing to do. He can't stand the thought of crumbs in bed. I am sure dinner in bed would be great too, just haven't tried it yet.

I thought bed was for.......... and sleeping!

I had surgery in the fall and ate in bed for most of a week. It kind of broke the taboo for me. Now I'll crawl back into bed with breakfast once in awhile, and we actually have a good legged tray so if we want to eat in bed, we can do so a bit tidily. I wouldn't do it with, say, marinara though.

We spent about 8 months without a kitchen, den, living and dining room while renovating. we had one tiny bedroom as our living room and our bedroom while the other rooms had furniture stacked to the hilt. We ate in our bed a lot. I don't think we'll do it again, but while we did it was fine.
Next renovation...we're renting an rv and putting it in the driveway.

I dunno. I always worry (something I do well and often) that I'll spill something and can never actually get comfortable enough to sit long enough in one position and eat from a tray balanced on my lap. The pillows are never quite right and I end up thinking "the hell with it - I'm going downstairs."

It really is a collision of two worlds that I don't think were meant to meet. Over a full meal, anyway.

As a rule, I don't eat in bed. Partly for the crumb issue, but mostly because my bedroom is upstairs (long way from the kitchen). Besides, we don't have a TV in there, so there's just not much other reason to do it. Actually, we basically don't eat upstairs at all, which is almost entirely sleeping quarters, except the kids sometimes have snacks in the loft where there's an extra TV and spare computer.

Just not a fan of food in proximity to sleeping quarters. I don't disapprove in general, but it's not my thing. Breakfast in bed sounds romantic, but in reality, it's usually just uncomfortable, awkward and inconvenient IMHO. Even in hospital, where you have a sturdy tray table that's not on your lap, and not affected by your movements, it's pretty uncomfortable.

When we stay in hotels (frequently), we might eat in/on bed, but even then, it's usually because it's one of the only options, and typically only breakfast (when the sheets will be changed before the next "normal" use of the bed).

All that said, I'm a big fan of, "If it makes you happy, go for it!"

Why is eating in bed a conversation topic? I think I am lost........ya wanna eat in bed???? bring whipped cream. Okay, I know for sure I am getting kicked out...... Night,,,,Night!

Only whipped cream and such and never alone.

I spent too long having to eat in bed in the hospital. But I do enjoy when SO brings me coffee in bed.

Crumb-free objects, yes.

Like some chocolate or maybe a hot drink when it's cold.

Not so much in bed as on bed (the whole crumb thing would be bad). Since I had my foot surgery a month ago, we use a nice bamboo tray for bedroom dining. If the good TV was downstairs (and if it were warmer down there), we'd most likely not eat in the bedroom at all.

If I don't have a eating surface like a table or desk to eat at I'll eat in bed.

I enjoy the occasional chocolate treat in bed, I will admit. My boyfriend has also brought me sushi in bed...

Not typically, but when I'm traveling for work, I like to get take-out and sit on/in the bed eating and watching TV.

No way in hell. The only food allowed in the bedroom is a cup of coffee in the vanity/bath area when I'm putting on makeup in the morning. Even that's a stretch.

I'm a clean/neat freak. No food anywhere near the bed. Ever.

if my tv was next to my bed, yes. otherwise, what is the point?

Ice cream, in my jammies, under blankets, watching TV. Rum raisin out of the Hagen-daz container. Sweet.

Sunday morning, coffee, bagels and the NY Times. Oh, there will be crumbs, but it's laundry day so the sheets get washed anyway.

Late at night..with a book...popcorn.
Oh yeah and maybe cookies.
I brush out the crumbs before I fall asleep!!!!

When I had roommates, I ate in bed while watching TV often.

oh I'm so with you and the comfort food in bed people!
I love frozen yogurt, chocolate, a juicy book, and a big mug of cocoa after a long day, after everything else in the house (including the kitchen and my family) are shut down for the night.
me time to the extreme.
:]

Never. Food or drink of any description doesn't go in the bedroom. EVER.

Yes, it's actually normal in our house. On Sundays I get up and make some sort of munchie to eat while we're waking up and watching tv. But (!) the covers have to be pulled up to protect the sheets from crumbs. Crumbs in bed freak me out.

We eat in bed frequently...much to my displeasure. No don't get me wrong, I'm all for the occasionall cozy-up-to-a-good-book-hot-chocolate-and-cookies kind of bed munching. But I hate that the majority of my meals are infront of the t.v. in bed. I grew up in a pretty strict household where all meals were at the dining room table with the television and radio turned off. It was a treat if we had pizza and watched a movie in the living room (and a production at that...there were never enough seats).

In my dream home the dining room table is always clean and ready to be eaten upon for every meal.

Neh! Neh! Neh!

All the time. Most nights we have full dinners from a tray in our bedroom, which is like our fortress -- we work from bed, eat in bed, play in bed, and sometimes even sleep. Yes, we do get up occasionally. But it's a comfortable place, what can I say?

I would never eat in bed unless I'm sick and can't get out of bed and my mom is insisting I eat a piece of toast or something. But that's about it!

Chew on That

I am so with the comfort food people. A nice bowl of perfectly whipped mashed potatoes with polish butter and a touch of chives under the covers
in front of a great show. Nice night!
