Black and White Cookies
I'm getting married in a month and would like to have homemade cookies as a favor. I was hoping to make mini black and whites as an homage to my home sweet home, as I now live in the south. Does anyone know a good recipe? There are several floating around the intersphere, so if you have the inside poop on a recipe I'd love to know. If you have any other great wedding favor recipes, I'd love them too!!

Here's one from Epicurious but I have no personal experience with it. As we say on another board DBMNMR (don't blame me, not my recipe).
If someone posts a T&T recipe here, I'll be paying attention. I love B&W cookies and you're right...They are SO NY!
Congrats, BTW :D.

i only assume the epicurious recipe above is identical to the one available in the gourmet cookbook, which i made before, and which was an excellent version. better than many versions for sale in the city.

I was just able to check with the Gourmet book and the epicurious recipe is in fact the same. It's good.

Deb from Smitten Kitchen promised to post her "near flawless" recipe soon - might want to keep an eye out for it. http://smittenkitchen.com/2008/02/spicy-sweet-potato-wedges-plus-five-etceteras/

Another "DBMNMR": Arthur Schwartz's New York City Food has a recipe for black and white cookies, haven't been able to find a copy of the recipe online though.

Go with the Epicurious recipe...does anyone recall a vintage Gourmet cover featuring these cookies at one point? Anywho, it is a good recipe...

Check out the post from a few days ago on www.DavidLebovitz.com. It was all about black & white cookies.
Also someone posted a recipe in the comments (have not tried it) but it looked like it might be just the thing.

You mentioned you were also interested in other wedding favor recipes.
I've seen Pecan Tassies at many southern weddings, showers, bridal luncheons, etc. They are like mini pecan pies baked in mini muffin tins. Very simple ingredients, but so delicious. Very southern. The recipe I have used is found in "The South: The Beautiful Cookbook." I believe the recipe was contributed by Natalie Dupree, so you could probably find it in one of her cookbooks, too.

Thats so funny i was just about to tell you about the black and white cookie company, if you didn't want to bake the cookies yourself. The cookies from that company are top notch. Me and my husband ordered them as favors for our wedding and they went over really well. Its not every day that you find them at a wedding, so people really appreciated the uniqueness of the gift. The company worked very well with allowing us to customize the cookie. And the cookies came out great!
