Would you rather give up eggs or cereal?

Eggs, meaning eggs as an omelet or scrambled, fried, poached, etc...not necessarily eggs you would bake a cake with. Cereal, meaning ready-to-eat or a cooked hot cereal.

This would be a very hard choice for me because I eat both every morning! But...I love all kinds of cereal, so I'd choose to give up the incredible edible egg! The egg or the cereal, which would you choose to give-up?

Eggs, no question.

I've never been a big egg person. I think it has been two years since my last quiche, omelet, or toad-in-a-hole, but I love a big bowl of oatmeal. Or Smart Bran. Or muesli. Or granola.

Cereal, no problem!

I refuse to entertain these terrible questions! :-)

I just started eating cereal, but I'd give it up for eggs.

JEP: You make the rules, right? If Ann Fisher refuses to choose, you should choose for her? ;)

Cereal.

Eggs on a Sunday morning; hard to beat.

Absolutely cereal! You need eggs to make almost any baked good, custard, quiche, etc!

Cereal, hands down. Eggs are one of the perfect foods, not to mention all the things it is used in. Cereal, while okay, is just cereal!

Cereal, hands down.

I absolutely adore eggs, almost every possible preparation; one of my very favorite foods. Cereal is more of a now-and-then thing for me.

I could easily give up eggs since I hardly eat them.

Cereal is the winner for me.

I usually don't answer these questions because they are too hard to answer! I eat so much oatmeal I could never give it up... but in a comeback victory, I'm sticking with eggs. A perfect omelet is the best for brunch.

Oh gosh. It's very tough--I love a sunny side up, and my PB and egg sandwiches. But cereal for me. I can't live without a bowl in the morning. Plus, cereal can be a good dessert or afternoon snack. I think I'd give up the eggs then...Give me a bowl of Kashi, oatmeal, All Bran, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cap'n crunch anyday.

For some of you that are undecided----I wnat to reiterate: I'm not asking if you would choose to give up eggs... for example in baked goods or custard---the eggs I'm referring to are omelets, poached, fried, etc! Knowing that, does it change your answer?

Looks like most of us couldn't entertain the idea of living without our cereal:)

Cereal no question. I love eggs!

If I give up eggs but don't have to give up things that contain eggs. Then I'm going to stick with cereal.

Although can I switch on a weekly or month to month basis?

Cereal...never eat it.

Back when I was vegan, I gave up eggs pretty easily. However, now that I eat them, I could probably give up cereal just as easily. Unless, you count oatmeal as cereal. Then it would be a challenge -- all those oatmeal cookies!

You can't put eggs in a baggie for a mid-day snack! What would you get if you mixed eggs, marshmallows and butter? Certainly not Rice Krispie Treats! And, if I'm stumbling around the kitchen at 1 a.m., I'd certainly rather pour a bowl of cereal than take out a pan, a spatula, the butter, etc.

So, bye bye eggs

cereal, are you kidding? Eggs are delicious, nutritious and versatile. Cereal is just a bunch of empty calories. Sugar, and if youre lucky, some fibre.

Eggs. Easy one. I ate my weight in them when I was a poor vegetarian college student (along with loads of peanut butter and beans, although I never developed the same aversion to them as I did to eggs and ramen noodles for some reason) and now I don't really care for them, unless it is a really rare torilla (Spanish omelette). On the other hand, I adore oatmeal and used to freely eat big bowls of it twice or more a day, and I don't think that I could ever really give up the occasional bowl, even though lately I have been on a soup kick for breakfast (I still want to know where that came from).

Littlebluesiren, I will make you a deal, your oatmeal for my eggs! :)

Cereal. I try to eat it sometimes and just end up bored and unsatisfied. If I want a "real" breakfast, it's eggs all the way.

definitely cereal.

You can have either one as long as you don't take away my toast. :-)

There are definitely times I crave either/or. I could give up eggs if, on the days I crave hot food I could have oatmeal. I could walk away from all or most egg preps in the morning. As a kid, my brother and I could kill a box of cereal in one sitting - it drove my mom nuts.

Although I would miss the ocassional bowl of oatmeal or grits, I can't give up eggs. Fried or poached on an English muffin or with good toasted bread on a morning where I have time to relax with a hearty breakfast...yeah, it's just too painful to contemplate giving that up.

Hmm...That's a tough one. I usually have eggs (whichever way moves me that day) for breakfast and cereal (something with nuts/berries or Kashi) with soymilk as a snack at night. Since the cereal doesn't seem to stick with me long enough in the AM (and I never have enough time to make the much more filling cooked cereals during the week), I guess I'd have to choose to give up cereal.

As much as I love cereal, I couldn't give up eggs. Cereal is a utilitarian food: it's quick and easy on a weekday. But for me eggs are weekend breakfast food, when I have time to make something really tasty. No way could I get them up!

Goodbye cereal!

Ack, I can't stand cereal. If I could only take one foodstuff with me to my desert island, it would be eggs!

I eat cereal every day, but I could give it up for eggs. I like breakfast burritos too much. Plus, on occasion I have eggs for lunch or dinner, maybe scrambled with zucchini and cheese. Scrambled egg sandwiches are good too. And French toast is made with eggs!

Cereal would go, even wonderful Irish oatmeal. I rarely cook breakfast for myself; I grab a cup of coffee and I'm out the door, so breakfast out is my favorite meal. Eggs in every possible way, I couldn't give them up. On the other hand, breakfast for dinner is my fall back menu when I can't think of anything else. Last night was scrambled eggs, BACON, and tater tots!

keep the eggs and pass the cereal. The only cereal I really eat anymore is either oatmeal or oat bran(think cream o wheat ) but eggs just dont do it for me.

Between eggs and cereal? No contest, I'd give up eggs, which I kind of like, for cereal, which I love. Life without Cheerio's or Weetabix would be very sad.

Could not live without eggs...morning, noon & night.

JEP, You really know how to get us where it hurts.

Years ago I would have easily said I'd give up eggs over cereal but now I've grown to like eggs just as much as cereal so this decision is hard!

I guess I'm going to have to go with cereal for now since it's what I eat less of the two.

I could easily give up eggs - I can only eat scrambled or an omelet when I'm really craving them, and that's rare. (I used to eat hard boiled eggs until the smell one day made me nauseous, and I haven't been able to eat them since.) But I could never give up oatmeal - warm, healthy, hearty. Mmm.

I gave up cereal 6 years ago. I do miss it, but mostly as a dinner option when I'm too tired to cook after work.

Eggs, however, I adore and eat every day. :D

Definitely cereal. Much as I love my whole grain puffed Kashi, I can live without it. But eggs...I certainly can't live without!

i would give up cereal. while cereal is delicious and easy and wonderful, it just doesn't compare to the perfection of eggs. no more eggs benedict? no more omelets? no more Gordon Ramsey scrambled eggs? no more poached egg in my momofuku ramen? the list just keeps on going. eggs are too perfect to be given up.

Eggs, no hesitation.
Runny eggs remind me of snot, eggs require lots of seasoning or sauce to taste good (the only way I'll eat eggs runny is as eggs benedict) and most eggs come from poorly treated chickens.

Cereal, no question. I even can't remember the last time I had dry cereal... although I'd miss oatmeal!

Eggs. I like 'em but I'm usually running behind in the mornings and need the quick cereal fix.

I would give up cereal in a heartbeat. Eggs are so versatile and are used in so many things! Hmm. . . my response is starting to sound like my pasta response :)
