Orchid Pavilion in Princeton, NJ
I realize that this might be a tough one, but I can think of no better audience for this question.
There was a Chinese restaurant on Nassau Street in Princeton -- Orchid Pavilion -- that changed ownership (as well as name) in the late 1990s. Prior to the change, they had a dish on the dinner menu called "Imperial Chicken." I've never found another restaurant that serves the dish and have been trying for years to recreate the recipe. It's sort of sweet and sour, but not a sticky sweet and sour. The dish used to be served with peppers and onions, mushrooms, and carrots. The sauce was orange/brown, but not too dark. Anyone remember this restaurant or this dish? I used to eat it at least three times a week when I worked a few offices away and am hoping that someone with more culinary talent than I have remembers it and can point me in the direction of a recipe or at least can tell me the key flavors used in the sauce.
Thanks!

This dish is a NJ chinese chicken favorite. The place I used to get it was in the Echelon Mall in Voorhees. It is also called Emperor Chicken or Empress Chicken as well as Imperial Chicken.

And I had a dish that sounded like that in Turnersville, NJ - forget the name of the restaurant.
I've haven't had Chinese food in Princeton in years, but I used to work there too. Hope you find it!
