Newman's Own Chocolate-Your Opinion
Earlier this evening, I treated myself (or so I thought) to a piece of Newman's Own (as in Paul Newman) Butter Toffee Crunch. While I like Newman's efforts and contributions to charity--and even his acting--I was not impressed with this chocolate bar. What do you think about Newman's Own chocolate? Is there one you would recommend--or is the packaging better than the product. Is Newman's Own chocolate just plain old chocolate?

I find all their chocolate stuff far too sweet.

I like their dark chocolate peanut butter cups... they're smaller than Reese's, but very rich... however, I've tried the Butter Toffee Crunch, and like you, was pretty disappointed... the texture and flavor just didn't do it for me.

Newman's Own does a terrific job of putting out some very nice products that are almost always tastier and more healthfully built that most other similar convenience-type foods. But, for me, some things are best left to the experts. Chocolate would be one of those. That means Valrhona, Ghirardelli, even Lindt. But not so much Newman's.
