La Cantina Toscana needs etiquette lessons
We've eaten at La Cantina Toscana many times and have always been satisfied. Not last night, when four of us where there. Our server managed to smash my wine glass to bits with the wine bottle as he was pouring. Glass was everywhere. On just about everyone's food, clothing and beverage glasses. Of course they changed our place settings and table cloth, but what struck me as petty and poor customer relations, was that nothing was comped on the check as an apology. We weren't looking for much, but I think that the three glasses of white wine order prior to dinner should have come off the check. That's insensitive. And not the way other restauranteurs, such as Danny Meyer, would react. That bit of cheapness left a bad taste in our collective mouths and we'll be quite reluctant to return to La Cantina Toscana. Had they made some small gesture of apology, I'd be writing an entirely different review.
