If you had one meal in Miami Beach - where would it be?
I'm headed there for a business trip in March and I am looking for a great taste of Miami! Celeb sighting possibilities would be a great bonus...

Definitely Joe's Stone Crab!

Joe's is wonderful, but if you make it inland a bit try Michelle Bernstein's "Michy's Restaurant."
You're most likely to see celebrities at South Beach clubs, though.

Joe's Stone Crab is on Miami Beach. I agree, my first stop would be at Joe's, I suggest lunch rather than dinner... no long wait and the menu is the same.. All the seafood is excellent, for sides, try the sweet potato fries and the baked tomatoes w/ spinach. The basket of bread served with all meals is almost worth the trip. The key lime pie is much too cold for my taste, almost frozen. You can find better elsewhere.
Also Miami Beach, for Cuban food try Lario's on Ocean Drive ...in the middle of everything...reasonable prices and quite good. As far as celebrity sightings, you will have better luck at the high end hotel bars, very late, evening.
For good food and fun....Lincoln Road which is a pedestrian, roller blader,
eclectic area, many restaurants and a few shops all open late. Sit outside
have a drink and watch the world go by... Lincoln Road is a five minute cab ride from Ocean Drive.

Go to Calle 8 to Versailles or to La Carreta and have a traditional Cuban Sandwich or Media Noche sandwich with a Papaya or Mamey Batido and Chicharritas de Plátano on the side.
Or if you want heavier fare, order some Arroz Moro (white rice mixed with Black Beans) with Fried Plantains or with Yuca con Mojo.
And finish with a nice Cuban espresso coffee and Pastelillitos de Guayaba.
Miami is Cuban-central - go Cuban all the way!!!!!

Ohhh - and Lario's in Ocean Drive.... Over priced Cuban food you can get more authentic, more delicious and way cheaper if you go to Calle 8 or even Hialeah... if in Hialeah, Las Culebrinas in 12th Ave and 45th Street is super good.
But every taxi driver will know versailles or La Carreta in Calle 8 and is closer to the beach.
Bongo's at the American Airlines Arena is Gloria Estefan's restaurant is also good, authentic but a bit overpriced.

I too will be visiting Miami Beach in March, yay! My concern is that the guy I'm traveling with is allergic to seafood. Sheesh.
News Cafe on Ocean Drive has a decent breakfast. It is very near Casa Casuarina if you're into that sort of thing.
Yuca on Lincoln Rd has damn good ceviche but the rest of our food was only so-so.
I've also been to the IHOP and Dunkin Donuts on Collins Ave, but that's probably not what you're looking for, huh?

Another South Beach standout is the China Grill, you can check their menu on line...entrees are about $28.00 but well worth it, gorgeous decor and you might see a celebrity there! Lario's is a little pricey for Cuban food ($17.00 for entree) but the ambience, location and the young crowd make for a nice South Beach/Cuban experience.

Thanks everyone! We had thought of China Grill so that might work...we are even considering splurging on appitizers and sides at Prime 112. Thankfully this is a business trip! I'm also interested in Calle 8 now that its been mentioned...mmmm :)

Joes is great, long wait for diner, anti seafood, people, have great steaks also. Stone Crab is the must.
China grill is great for people watching, good with big group to order lots of dishes. Both places very noisy but fun.
