greenbags

Has anyone seen this infomercial where a lady has these "greenbags" that she puts fruit and veggies in and they last like 4 times longer then "normal storing methods"? normally I don't believe infomercials but this would be a great product for me if it really did work. I live in Bermuda and produce here is terrible. even if you do get fresh looking stuff, it only lasts a day or 2 MAX. Has anyone tried these? do they work? even a little bit? I looked around but didn't see any helpful reviews online and I thought people would be more trustable on here then out there in the crazy interweb wilderness...

I've used Evert Fresh greenbags. My CSA handed out a couple to each household at the beginning of the season. I think they extended the shelf life of most vegetables somewhat, but not sure about the 4x claim. They were most useful for the most delicate veggies - baby greens, that would usualy only last a day or two could last a week instead.

I find them extremely useful; I think the 4x claim is valid. Washing and drying them is a bit of a drag, though, but well worth it in the end.

They do work well, I've had some fennel bulbs in them for 2 weeks now and they look exactly like when I put them in. I guess I should cook them.

I had these for over a year...on my second set, actually. First purchased them from QVC and was very pleased with their performance. Great for delicate veggies, herbs and lettuces. I highly recommend!

Oh, and one more thing I forget to mention: the real barometer for excellence was proven when my cucumbers stored in the Green Bags did not turn to mush...they lasted two weeks.

Nope, these do not work on the majority of fruits and vegetables. Sorry folks: http://www.wate.com/Global/story.asp?S=7887649

Also, when do cucumbers turn to mush in two weeks? I've never had that happen. Ever. You definitely don't need any "product" for cucumbers. LOL.
