Football Food

So, my family and friends are NY Giants fans. My house has been designated the house to gather(big screen tv). I'm going to serve meals and appetizers. Any favorite football watching foods?

Chili is always good, with either corn chips or corn bread or both.

Really any good chips and dips I have found to always be a good thing to have, that and lots of beer :)

Pigs in a blanket! Go to Costco and get one of those ginormous boxes of 'em. Good mustard is crucial here.

I also agree on the chips and dip; I think the only time I ever eat those two items (I'm talking DIP, not hummus) is when I watch football!

Little smokies and barbecue sauce; tortilla chips and hot bean dip (can of refried beans, cheddar cheese, salsa, and a dollop of mayo, all mixed and heated. Yum!).

Mmm...something sweet in the 4th quarter...brownies!

Bacon wrapped anything! Bacon wrapped jalapenos, or Bacon wrapped club crackers with parmesan cheese--both can be found at: http://thepioneerwomancooks.com/2007/12/flashback_1981_-_holiday_bacon_appetizers.html and http://thepioneerwomancooks.com/2007/07/bacon-wrapped_j.html
And this olive cheese bread mixture is also good with crackers:

A truly easy dip I really like is Baked Potato Dip (got the recipe from my sister so I don't know who to credit, sorry):
1 16oz container sour cream
1 3oz jar bacon bits
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 bunch green onions, chopped

In a medium size mixing bowl, combine sour cream, bacon, cheddar cheese and green onions. Mix well. Serve with Potato Chips.

I also don't think you can go wrong with chili, fresh salsa, maybe some chili con queso, and plenty of tortilla chips! Beer cheese soup and wings are also good though more time consuming to make.

Not something I'd typically make, but I this has become a staple at parties in my neighborhood -

I like to substitute some sour cream & crumbled blue cheese for the "blue cheese dressing" but it is delicious either way.
Good with celery, carrots, tortilla chips and even crackers to dip.

I've done Superbowl parties with chili (always a hit) and Mexican type appetizers as outlined above..... I have also done a wing and rib feast. I live in Canada, so the Superbowl hits in the mid of winter - but we still bbq both the wings and ribs - they taste so good! Serve with coleslaw.

Another good one is pulled pork sandwiches. I use a crockpot to make the meat (all done ahead so I can see the game too!), serve with oodles of slaw, and decent rolls. These can get a bit messy, but I usually just lay a wack of newspaper out on the large coffee table and let folks dig in. Or spring for a sports-themed plastic or paper tablecloth (you can find them with the kids' party supplies).

Also, on the pioneer woman note (from above), try her spicy shrimp. Again, lay out some newspapers and hand out lots of napkins.

BUFFALO CHICKEN DIP

- 2 Cups Cooked Chicken, chopped
- 2 (8 ounce) pkgs Cream Cheese, softened
- 1 Cup Ranch Dressing
- ¾ Cup Franks Red Hot Sauce
- 1 ½ cups of Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix ingredients well and place the lot into an oven safe dish. Bake for 30 minutes. Serve with crackers, celery sticks or your favorite tortilla chips.
