Ellie Krieger- Hype or the Real Deal?

Though I scorn most offerings on the Food Network, I have found some of Ellie Krieger's recipes to be quite good. I have made her chocolate cookies and the kitchensink cookies, among other recipes. These cookies taste great and are healthier than most. Has anyone else tried her recipes? What does the SE crowd think of her?

I have looked closely at her book and I have to say I'm impressed. She appears to be able to do healthy and delicious, not an easy thing to do.

As Ina Garten would say, "What's not to like?"

I made her recipe for Grilled Zucchini Rolls with Herbs and Cheese. I thought it was very yummy, but my wife didn't care too much for it. She thought the zucchini was too slimy, and she didn't care for the mouthful of goat cheese. Oh well, more for me!

I have to say that I'm a fan of Ellie's show. She makes recipes healthier by cutting out unnecessary fat and sugar, which I think, when done properly, hardly makes any difference in the finished product. She is also aware of the nutritional value of certain ingredients that we might overlook as super-good-for-you, like black beans and red peppers. I feel like many of her recipes are veggie-heavy, but they are interesting and probably pretty good. I have yet to try any, but several times I've read good things about her cookies!

Not too sure, but I do like her "look" also the look of the kitchen she cooks in. All very squeaky clean. Not that it makes her foods taste any better -- but for me it's all visual.

I have made her mac and cheese recipe and it turned out quite well. I know I've tried others, but they're escaping me right now. Always tasty. I find her show enjoyable. She seems fairly down to earth and reasonable about being healthy. For instance, she has dessert recipes that actually look good and interesting, rather than just recommending fresh fruit all the time.

I like her she looks real and she cooks real. I'd like to prepare more of her recipes but I've got to get back in the habit of measuring everything. I'm so used to winging it (except with baking) that it's a concerted effort to measure anything. Especially when I'm in a hurry.

I have to say every Ellie recipe I have tried comes out exactly right as far as number of servings, size, etc. and all taste exceptional. I just made her breakfast cookies and have previously made her apple muffins, turkey meatloaf, turkey meatballs, triple chocolate cookies, and others that I can't think of right now. Though they are sometimes higher in calories than people prefer, the higher calories at least come from healthy sources like nuts, raisins. Of note, Ellie was a professional model previously - thought that was interesting!

I want to not like her, but the recipes are excellent. I'm very fond of her granola bars. She's a bit rubbish at chopping and I dont like that she often subs oil instead of butter.
