Eating in South Beach

I'm looking for great eats in South Beach --- breakfasts, lunches, and dinners (ranging from dives to expensive). We're foodies. Thanks!

For lunch or dinner its got to be Joe's Stone Crab, dinner at China Grill (expensive but worth it), lunch at Lario's on Ocean Drive moderate price Cuban flavor, breakfast at the Pink Elephant where many of the locals eat, huge servings you can share.

Grillfish is a lite, casual lunch place during the day, and a hip/trendy hot spot for cocktails and dinner in the evening. The decor is very ecclectic and you'll get a better sense of the space during the day...the food was terrific, but the ambiance makes it a "pretty place" to dine as well.

For comfort food, the 11th street diner wins hands down.

Dont miss La Sandwicherie, it is a gourmet sandwich stand nestled on 14th Street bet. Collins and Washington Ave (it's between the gas station and the tattoo shop). If I remember correctly they used to deliver too, so ask for a menu if your hotel is close by, they are open late into the night.
Pink Elephant is very good, so is the 11th Street diner. Staff at 11th street diner are supper nice, they even let us charge a cell phone while we had our meal.
If your on Lincoln Road, stop at Davids Cafe, go up to the window and have a cafe con leche, they also have great Cuban food, they are my personal favorite on the Beach for no frills Cuban food.
Lincoln Road is a nice place to eat in general, you can have a good meal, while sitting outside, without the hustle of all the people on the main streets.

if youre going to be hitting lincoln road mall, try the Ice Box Cafe. They have savory dishes as well as an amazing array of desserts, none of which are frou-frou. If you try and make it over the causeway onto the mainland, try Soyka's in the Design District. The place is great looking, especially at night and they have a varied, very tasty menu.

I've heard that Casa Tua is really nice... never been there though. The thing is that when I go to Miami... I usually eat at my family's, but...

Lario's is OK right on Ocean Drive, but if you really want Cuban food, you need to get OUT of South Beach... and go to Calle Ocho, which is not far away and eat at Versailles or La Carreta - order white rice and black beans, platanos maduros, pastelitos and gulp it down with a Papaya or Mamey milkshake. If you want a really good Cuban Sandwich or a MediaNoche, ask for the closest LatinAmerican Cafe. I know there's one on Coral Way. Take it from a 1/2 Cuban...

And for the best chocolate ice cream... Ghirardelli's Ice Cream parlor in Lincoln Road.

second vote for le sandwicherie... sooooo good. The vinaigrette is the only sandwich topping you need. Also, there's a great peruvian place called chalan on 16th & washington. Those are two stops I always make when I'm there, usually multiple times.
