Dining in Quebec CIty

I am heading to Quebec City for the first time in late Feb. Anyone have any recommendations for good french rest. or bistros? I like quaint, cozy atmosphere with good food.

I have spent an innumerable amount of time in Quebec City and the surrounding area for the past 7 years. By far my favorite restaurant is called Cafe du Clocher Penche. It is located in St. Roc, the sort of up and coming area, not up in the old town.

Simple, modern bistro fare, but very innovative.

It is so much better, in my opinion, in anything you find within walking distance of the Chateau Frontenac in the touristy area of town. It is less than 10 mins by cab from that area. And the gents there will call you a cab to get you back.

Annieli, I'm glad you posted this. I will also be going to Quebec City in February. My husband and I usually go for winter carnival, and it's hard to find restaurants that aren't geared toward tourists during that time of year. I'm interested to hear the suggestions. One of our favorite breakfast spots though, is called Le Petit Coin Latin on Rue Sainte-Ursule. We go back to this spot every year. Delicious food, coffee, hot chocolate, and a great atmosphere.
