Bring PB&J up a notch!

What nut butter would you use? Would you pair it with a gourmet jam or jelly? What bread would work best, and finally, your beverage of choice with this upgraded kids favorite Are you thinking along the lines of chocolate milk, or something more exotic or alcoholic?

This is going to sound really strange but I love pb&j on rye bread. I use Skippy creamy peanut butter and a swiss raspberry preserve called, Favorit. Lightly toast my bread so my when I spread my peanut butter on it, the peanut butter becomes runny. And I have to have chocolate milk.

Chunky almond butter, light spread of raspberry puree, drizzle of bittersweet chocolate on a toasted sesame seed bagel. Hot coffee with a shot of Bailey's. This would be a great winter picnic watching the skaters on the pond, or in front of a roaring fireplace.

I have a couple of favorites...Skippy Natural PB with black raspberry jelly spread on sunflower kernal bread or Skippy Natural & tupelo honey grilled on cinnamon raisin walnut bread. Cold glass of whole milk is my beverage of choice!

All-naturla (so no sugar or salt added) peanut butter (any brand) with honey on oat bread. Toasted or untoasted doesn't make a difference. Nice cup of tea to go with it.

And no, rye bread isn't strange, I love raspberry or blueberry jam with creamy peanut butter on rye bread!

Peanut butter and fig jam on anything! Bring it on!

I like to use chunky peanut butter or nutella with Polaner All Fruit Preserves. For bread I usually like to use wheat bread cause it's easier to spread on. And it'd go well for me with a regular glass of milk.

Peanut butter and banana on whole wheat bread is just about the most perfect sandwich you can eat. I can't really eat PB & J together. There's something about the stickiness of the PB and the slipperyness (sp? Actual word?) of the Jelly/Jam that to me is just gross.

A favorite thru highschool was peanut butter and potato chip sandwiches (just a thin layer of chips). It adds just the right amount of salt and crunch.

Mmmmmm - almond butter, slathered on whole wheat toast with sour cherry jam. YUM!

Wonder white bread, Skippy creamy, Smuckers Raspberry Jam and a cold glass of whole milk.

My autumn weekend breakfast indulgence: a not-too-runny PB coupled with Trader Joe's pumpkin butter, on wheat, grilled. Swoonily good.

Salted natural almond or cashew butter on a chewy, rustic whole wheat or sourdough toast. Naked is preferred. But thinly sliced banana or apple, or a light smear of apple butter works too.

Unsweetened nut butters are also really good with thinly sliced cheese -- something along the lines of jack or medium-sharp cheddar.

I love PB but it doesn't love me, so I seldom indulge. If I do, however, it must be of the stir-before-using all natural variety (peanuts and salt, that's all). Those with shortening and sugar (Jif, Skippy, etc.) are out of the question -- I just can't take the texture, and the sweetness is a major turnoff for me.

I've been to a PB&J and wine tasting before (in NYC of course) and it was amazing - I plan on hosting my own sometime in the near future.

Some of the combinations included the classic grape and creamy PB on white bread with a big zinfandel, raspberry jam and almond butter on light wheat with a white wine I can't remember, blueberry jam and hazelnut butter on wheat with a French red I can't remember, and apricot/almond with prosecco.

I have been meaning to host my own but have never gotten around to it - one of these days, I will!!!

PB and Nutella on wheat bread rocks my socks personally. Oh and PB and Honey too.

Almond Butter with Raspberry-Chipotle Sauce (weird, I know) on lightly toasted, buttered whole wheat bread.

Trader Joe's cashew butter and good old fashioned Welch's Grape Jelly on fresh white bread...

I've talked about it here before: crunchy PB, WW bread, and a spicy mango chutney,

Hazelnut butter and blueberry jam on a thick whole wheat bread. MMmmmm. I did Ina Garten's PB&J bars using this combination (hazelnuts and blueberries). They were incredible and well received.

I love fresh peanut butter as sold in health food stores and some better supermarkets. When it's done that way, it doesn't matter that the butter is made from the lowly peanut. Just getting fresh PB lifts it to a higher level.

I like gooseberry jam.... honey.... banana chips Traveller mentioned fig jam I like that as well.... crunchy or smooth peanut butter oh yes an marshmellow creme I like well toasted bread any type

once again valencia peanut butter or almond butter with little scarlet jam

and pretty much all the sandwiches at peanutbutter &co

Fig jam sounds delicious! Do you buy it somewhere, make your own, or scrape it out of Newtons?

Normal old JIF or Skippy peanut butter with raspberry or apricot jam, on multigrain bread! And a diet coke is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!

My all time fav is Pepperidge Farm banana cinnamon swirl with peanut butter and seedless raspberry preserves and fluff. Yes I know gross but omg for a sugar fix its fabulous. Also Trader Joes Macadamia nut and almond butter with apricot on cinnamon bread. Most of the time I eat peanut butter on ritz crackers because I don't keep bread in the house.
Peanut butter seems to be getting a bad rap recently. I also like peanut butter on bananas with nutella. OMG good

JerzeeTomato: Macadamia nut and almond butter is one product? OMG, I have to have it!

I LOVE PB. My favorite is smuckers natural. Trader Joe's has wonderful almond, cashew and hazelnut butters. I think nut butters are best on fresh bagels still warm from the oven with a drizzle of honey or preserves. My favorite accompaniements (sp?) Yoo Hoo, hot cocoa, chocolate milk. Makes me happy just thinking about it. Is that wierd?

when I was in high school we used make (shhh don't tell the foodies!) peanut butter & dorito sandwiches!
....somehow this seems gross now that I'm in my 30's.

Raspberry or grape jelly with regular peanut butter on wheat bread still work for me! If I had to, maybe I'd go cashew butter with a fancier bread but I could do with leaving it how it is!

Chew on That

i completely forgot about the peanutbutter and jelly with combination, sooo good, it must be on crappy white bread with skippy and grape jam with ranch doritos!

Crunchy peanut butter spread on grainy bread, topped with very thin slices of apples, sprkled with cinnamon! Excellent!

Peanut Butter & Co. The Heat Is On with Rasberry jam. Hot!

I love peanut butter and Polana apricot jam on rye toast. With it, a cup of coffee with skim milk, no sugar.
All the best,
Linda J. Atamian

I am a HUGE HUGE fan of Sunflower Seed butter with bananas and unfiltered wildflower honey on whole wheat. The sunflower butter is amazingly good and balanced with the sweetness of the honey.

also PB&Co's Dark Chocolate Dreams and SEEDED raspberry jam...drool drool
