I like Stubbs too, their sauce and their mopping sauce.
My recipe comes from a Steve Raichlen Grilling cookbook, I'll see if I can find it online...

I should probably be burned at the stake for saying this -- being a Texan and all -- but the best I've ever tasted in a jar is from Dinosaur's in New York (Rochester and Syracuse, although I've only been to the Rochester location). I was so surprised to have such awesomely perfect BBQ sauce in upstate New York of all places! Now, when I have friends that are going to Rochester, I always make them bring me back at least a half-dozen jars. It's a sick obsession. :) :) :)

My favorite prepared barbecue sauce is from Rudy's Barbecue in Albuquerque. Mighty fine stuff, as is the sauce from Powdrell's, probably the first name in barbecue for Duke City dwellers. Ex-husband is a native Texan who taught me to make a heavily-spiced screaming sauce that never comes out the same way twice. There is really no recipe, just doctor up a basic sauce with brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, apricot or grape jelly, onions, garlic and lots of Louisiana hot sauce.

My all-time favorite - Watermelon Barbecue Sauce - used to be the standard sauce served at the Hard Rock Cafe chain.
Last time we were there, they had discontinued it and subbed hickory.
Found the recipe in a "secret" recipes book and also found it online. It now graces our ribs at home!. Takes a bit of doing when melons are in season, but it's worth the effort and keeps well.

on the shelves: PC Smokin' Stampede Beer & Chipotle Barbecue Sauce, my partner likes the really, really spicy dinosaur sauce for adding "heat" to bbq
in restaurants: phil's original bbq (sweet n' savory for me, hot n' sassy for him)

I enjoy Jack Miller's on pulled beef and pulled pork. It's quite different from other BBQ sauces I've had—it's sweet and tangy, with a lot of onions. A friend at work introduced me to the stuff and I've been in love ever since.
Other favorites include Kansas City-style sauces and Memphis-style sauces. I have made a delicious sauce from this recipe with elements of this recipe. Cooking Light, who would have known?

When I lived in suburban St. Louis, my favorite was Maull's. I can't get it here in South Florida, but I've found KC Masterpeice to be a worthy substitute.

While visiting friends in Florida, I had barbeque at Sonny's, a local chain. I love the sauces (there are several varieties - I prefer the hot, but my husband likes the sweet), and have ordered them online. My Florida pals found it at their local Costco and brought me a huge jug on their last visit. Sadly, it is all gone now ... must be time for a trip to Florida!

Buckeye Hot and Spicy BBQ sauce...yum
BBQ sauce at Romano's Macaroni Grill....yeah, an Italian place, but they had a BBQ chicken pizza, and the sauce was fantastic...Used to make the 5 gallon batches, but can hardly remember any of it now....sigh

Agree, KC Masterpiece is darn good stuff.

In our family, we go back and forth between Open Pit and KC Masterpiece. I think they both have a time and a food they work well on, but if I had to pick...my personal favorite would be Open Pit. I prefer the mesquite flavoring to the sweet.
