What's your latest food related addiction?

And not necessarily the food itself. For instance, I recently started using a Mr. Bento and have become obsessed with finding those cute little sauce bottles, containers and egg molds. I find I'm also checking out flickr's Mr. Bento Porn site daily.

Foodwise, lately I can't stop with Li Hing everything. Cracked seed, candy, powder. It will calm down soon, but right now it's in full swing.

Fish. Let me clarify... fin fish. I've loved shellfish my whole life but it's only this year I've come to appreciate (what I used to call) fish that looks like fish. Grouper is huge here on the west coast of Florida and it's a glorious, meaty fish that lends itself to many preparations. Also have come to appreciate something called charr. Bonefish Grill here in FL does it to perfection. It's like a much lighter, flakier salmon (without any fishiness).

I've been eating lots of rice lately. Plain, white canilla rice, steamed and kind of sticky. I make a big batch and put it in small containers for the week. It's good with soy sauce, tabasco and chopped scrambled egg (maybe add a little watercress for good measure). Makes a delicious breakfast or quick anytime meal.

Also good with a little bit of butter and salt as a midnight snack.

Not an especially exciting food addiction, but pretty yummy nonetheless.

Spicy hot chinese mustard. I run to the restaurant across the street and ask for it to go so I can put it on everything I eat lately. I got the bf addicted too...

My Spanish neighbor introduced me to "El Lotes Mexicano"- corn on the cob slathered with butter, mayo, and cotija cheese, splashed with hot sauce. I never would have thought mayo and corn could be a combination, but holy cow is it delicious, and i've eaten it almost every day since.

tangerines- ate 3 last night. have one on desk right now...mmmm.

Trader Joe's sells a walnut bread that I'm currently addicted to. It's like a french braid loaf, but it is a sort of sweet bread, with walnut halves all through. It is 5 bucks per loaf, and TJ's is about 30 miles from here, so I don't get it that often. But in between times when I have some, I crave it.

Nonfat greek yogurt with honey and pomegranate seeds
fresh corn tortillas (I just bought a Rick Bayless cookbook and a tortilla press)

My latest addiction is braising EVERYTHING.

Got a Le Crueset dutch oven for a wedding gift and I'm a braisin' fool.

@aungeinphx That sounds like the Stephen Raichlen corn! He did a great recipe on the grill that sounds a lot like what you have been enjoying. Agreed, mayo on corn didn't sound appealing but once you try it....Heaven. Sandra Lee tried to do a version of it using...Kraft Mac & Cheese Powder. OMG, what a laugh... :D

Homemade ice cream. We bought a Kitchenaid ice cream attachment this summer and now I can do double batches using the Kitchenaid at the same time as the Cuisinart freestanding ice cream maker. Makes almost four pints at a time! I make sure that both freezer bowls are ready in the spare freezer at all times!

Now that I have the hang of the custard, I have sourced free range eggs and have settled on a preferred hormone free milk and cream brand (making sure that the cream has a high milk fat content!).

For Thanksgiving, I whipped up cinnamon ice cream to go with a pear-crystallized ginger crumble. Turns out the cinnamon also is good with merengues (either plan or cocoa-cinnamon) crumbled on top. I also am fond of David Leibovitz's malted milk ice cream. I want to try caramel next!

Speckled bananas. Until recently, I was adamently against eating a banana that had any signs of speckles, bruises & needed to be totally yellow & no green tips! I would not let the market check-out person even handle them for fear of injury to the banana. Now, I have discovered the sweeter taste of those speckled ones and need a daily fix.

Vosges Mo's Bacon Bar. Mmmmmm... Bacon and Chocolate. *drool*

pound cakes. I recently rediscovered the popularity of the pound.
people love pound cake and I love it. Been experimenting with flavors and combinations. The people who make cake pans have gone insane and I am loving that too.

Terry's Chocolate Oranges (dark, of course). Can only find them at Christmas time, and I must've eaten four already this month ...

Curry paste...I dunno what it is lately, I can't get enough of the stuff.

Oh wow this is tough, because let me tell you, I've had MANY food-related addictions.

But the most recent would probably be chocolate with pop rocks! (My cousin just sent me a package of some from Israel). It's a party in your mouth, literally.
