What's your favorite kitchen item?
What do you use the heck out of...specific cookware? Electric appliance? Gadget? Bakeware? How often do you use this item? I appreciate having my digital scale...use it daily during meal prep as well as for baking. Which kitchen item is a necessity for you?

My very sharp chef’s knife.

My wooden spoon.

I'm torn. I love my wooden spoons, I love, love, love my tongs... but I'd be lost without my chef's knife. Lost, I tell you!

It's a toss-up between my santoku knife and my heavy duty tongs.

No question - my chef's knife.

This question is like asking me "who is your favorite child?" I can't answer that without hurting someones feelings. So in no particular order they are my Le Creuset, my chef's knife, and my tongs.
evilchefmom at 12:47PM on 12/01/07
Oops, see I just hurt my Le Creuset feelings by not saying its a dutch oven.

We are probably all in agreement about a chef's knife. I also have this silicon spatula by Swissmar that I just love. I use it for everything.

i do love my wusthof chef's knife, but i will never forget the first time i used a microplane grater to zest some lemons for a batch of lemon squares. it was at a friend's house. i was so enraptured with it -- i understood at once that life as i knew it was over -- that she promptly gave it to me. i then brought it to a dinner party at her sister's {on the opposite coast} and demonstrated it to everyone. pandemonium!

Cutting board - I know it's used in conjunction with my knife but when that cutting board hits the counter, I know there'll be some cooking happening.

My 2 new KitchenAid "children" 5-quart Pro Plus stand mixer "Willis" and 12-cup food processor "Choppa." They complete me! :-)

Love my kitchen aid mixer. One of the best gifts I ever received. I don't use it daily but I am always thankful to have it for a multitude of tasks. It is a fairly basic white model that I have had for about 10 years or so and now I am dreaming a more powerful one in mint green.

Definitely my chef's knife and the cutting board! (Can't seem to use one without the other, so don't make me choose!)

Let's see?
It would have to be either my KitchenAid HD Mixer or my Calphalon SS skillet.

I cannot pick just one. I will say my whole kitchen. It is by and large the best thing I have ever assembled to date. There is a bigger kitchen in my head waiting to be created. Nobody better tell my Hubby. He will freak!
JerzeeTomato at 12:25PM on 12/02/07
My Calphalon SS saute pan. I use it just about every meal.

My Kitchen Aid Pro 600 mixer....I use it every other day (literally) to make various breads, rolls or sweet rolls (orange rolls, cinnamon rolls, sticky buns). I am a bread baking machine and I shudder to think of kneading all that dough by hand.

My 10-inch cast iron skillet. I have some ridiculously expensive cookware, but the thing I use? Constantly? The skillet.
