Settle a silly debate...

This is juvenile, but....which sounds worse: a tuna fish stuffed donut, or a chocolate dipped pickle? I think that one sounds significantly less offensive, but oddly my partner in food and life disagrees!

I love a silly debate. If I was forced to eat one of these things, I'd take the chocolate dipped pickle. Can't really explain why, but I'm pretty sure about my decision.

I wouldn't only take the chocolate-covered pickle, I'd enjoy it. I know I'm insane for this, but...one of my favorite junk food snacks in the whole world is an Oreo cookie with a slice of dill pickle on top (not sandwiched in; has to be on top). And, no -- I'm not pregnant. :)

Hmm... I think the tuna donut would be less offensive to me. Since the donut is make of dough and you usually eat a tuna sandwich it may not be too bad...overly sweet yes, but it may work.

Yes. It is silly. please go to www.sillyeats.com and post your question there. Tuna Donut.

If the donut wasn't particularly sweet, I think that could be good -- we're talking tuna salad in something like a plain donut right -- like the shell of a jelly filled but minus the jelly?

And I'd eat pickle chips dipped in chocolate, but not an entire pickle :-)

You guys are going on Japanese Iron Chef? Turbot ice cream with eyes?

A doughnut filled with tuna salad sounds kind of nauseating. In theory if it were just tuna salad encased in bread, it would probably taste ok but the thought of making it into a doughnut is just....gross. So that's my vote.

Now chocolate dipped pickles...I'll eat anythings dipped in chocolate!

Although I typically won't eat tuna that involves anything sweet (yes, I'm talking to you people who make tuna salad with sweet pickle relish or Miracle Whip... just so wrong), it isn't totally inedible, so I'd say the donut works. But not if it's not glazed or frosted or whatever. Maybe a plain cake donut, or an unglazed raised with tuna in lieu of jelly filling?

Not sure how I feel about the pickle and chocolate, but I love both foods dearly (assuming it's DARK chocolate). Chocolate is good with other salty foods (e.g., nuts, pretzels, etc.), so as long as it is a brined pickle (no vinegar), it seems it should work just fine.

I guess I'll call it a toss up. You're both right. Now, go kiss and make up!

Oh god, just think of the texture of a tuna donut. Soft, squishy flakes of tuna sliding between your teeth sandwiched between soggy pillows of donut dough (because the donut would absorb some of the tuna juice). Gross beyond belief.

Not that a chocolate dipped pickle is much better, but I think I could eat it and not get sick.

I can't bring canned tuna fish near my face without nearly gagging. Might as well eat cat food. I'm not big on chocolate either, but I could eat a pickle with chocolate. I'm not at all a fussy eater--I love nearly everything else.

a tuna fish stuffed doughnut sounds significantly more offensive to me!

has anyone read that children's book about marshmallow covered pickles? i can't remember the name of it... but i remember reading it as a child and wanting to make it at home. my mom refused.

I'd take the tuna stuffed donut providing the donut was somewhat plain. The chocolate dipped pickle makes my teeth melt just thinking about it.

what about tuna salad made with pickles and miracle whip inside a chocolate dipped donut?

Eureka, Eroca!

Tuna fish filled donut. A tuna fish filled BAGEL, on the other hand, would be quite tasty.

Considering people deep fry pickles and make kool-aid pickles, there is the possibility that a chocolate dipped pickle would actually be good... but I'll leave that for you to find out.

I have to say that the tuna-doughnut sounds better (not good, just better), as long as the doughnut is plain.

I dislike juicy foods/fruits covered in chocolate (yes - even chocolate covered strawberries). Dried fruits covered in chocolate?- yes, but fresh fruits? - no. It sounds like a chocolate covered pickle might fall into this category.

they both sound equally disgusting.

My wife and I spent six-plus hours yesterday making chocolate dipped everything. That said, as anti-chocolate as I should be right now, there is no way I would consider tainting a donut with tuna, or vice versa.
I'm a chocolate-pickle man.
