My favorite lemon dessert is _____
After a few weeks of the holiday chocolate & caramel offerings, I'm craving a lemon dessert. Actually I have multi-favorites...lemon meringue pie, lemon-poppy seed cake, lemon cheesecake & lemon squares. Do any lemon desserts satisfy your sweet tooth?

Lemon squares, Coconut cake with lemon curd. I love lemon and coconut.

Lemon Tart (using curd). Although Lemon Bars are kind of the same thing in a different shape.

Definitely lemon curd tart! I've made one from the Washington Post a million years ago that uses a crust with ground almonds and topped (covering the lemon curd) with chopped almond brittle. I love the traditional kind to! Yummmm!

I have three favourites: lemon curd tart, lemon meringue pie and lemon sorbet. If I absolutely had to choose one, I'd probably go with lemon curd tart.

About anything, frankly. But I love the lemon-poppy seed pound cake from the Cafe Beaujolais Cookbook.

JEP I know you have been over to Nicole at Bakingbites.com and you saw her lemon tart. http://bakingbites.com/2007/12/meyer-lemon-curd-tart/
Give it a try, it is quite easy.

There's a Bon Appetit cake that I love: ginger cake with a double lemon frosting of lemon curd and lemon icing. Topped with pistachios, candied ginger, and white chocolate curls. http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/234444

That's funny you should ask...I just created a recipe today for a Lemon Rosemary Cake with Honey-Lemon Glaze. It's quite tasty.

Lemon curd, still warm, eaten out of the double boiler with an iced-tea spoon (remarkable useful utensils, they are).

Cold Lemon Souffle...lemon curd, whipped cream, egg whites beaten stiff with vanilla sugar and fresh lemon zest all folded together just til blended and chilled. Wonderful with a ginger cookie.

Lemon gelato

The Pierre Herme lemon tart in Dorie Greenspan's book, Baking from My Home to Yours is really, really good.
In the summer, I go for a lemon sorbet, though I must admit grapefruit sorbet is even more refreshing.

does key lime pie count?
cybercita at 10:42AM on 12/31/07
As much as I love chocolate, and I'm a chocoholic, I might choose a lemon dessert first, as long as it's not too sweet. Everything on your list JEP, and I'd add lemon pound cake with lemon curd. Does Limoncello count?

I agree with paris-lemon gelato rocks!

Entenmann's Lemon Coconut cake... my fave Entenmann's ever.

Yes, I'll second key lime, even though it's not lemon. One of the best citrus desserts ever!!!
I love a rich, homemade lemon custard. And lemon bars are one of my favorites, when I can find a good one, but mostly they're disappointing. Either too much shortening in the crust/cookie part, or no salt (bleck).
I'd love lemon meringue if it weren't for the meringue. You guys can have mine!
Has anyone ever had Lemon Icebox Pie? It's an old-timey thing made with sweetened condensed milk and egg yolks in a graham or nilla wafer crust... reminds me a bit of key lime, but much more tart...

loco,
my friend's mom used to make lemon icebox pie all the time and she taught me how. she used to slice bananas into the bottom of the crust and then put the sweetened condensed milk/lemon/egg yolk mixture on the top.
cybercita at 5:15PM on 12/31/07
LoCo---I looked at the Eagle Brand site & found "Creamy Lemon Pie" which has the egg yolks, lemon jce & condensed milk then topped with whip topping (I'm a real whipped cream kind of person, myself).
MaryColeman---the Cold Lemon Souffle sounds delicious:)

@JEP... yes, that's it, because my mom-in-law makes it from a little recipe booklet that Borden put out about 50 years ago, and which I've copied for myself!
@cyber... the banana sound yummy... I might have to try that next time... my dad-in-law makes the most awesome, authentic Southern banana pudding! I get cravings for both, so maybe that'll kill two birds with one stone!
I'll be in TN later this week, and I guarantee you, we will be eatin' us some good ol' lemon ice box pie AND a huge banana puddin!

Lemon Meringue pie for sure! I love that flavor combination.
