Freezing Cakes?
I know that cakes (unfrosted) can be frozen for a considerable amount of time, but realistically, how long can a cake be frozen?

Wrapping them right is the key. Make sure you freeze your cake on a dish/half sheet till it is very solid, then wrap it in good plastic wrap, cover with foil and then put it in a big zip[ lock freezer bag. When you go to use take it out of the wrappings and thaw.
I have frozen cake with icing for 4-6 months. Problem here is we find them and eat it. The thicker the icing the more longevity. Keep your cake away from smells and odors, baked good are sponges for odors.

That foil is the key. Plastic wrap will keep moisture but foil will run interference to odors. If you skip that foil step, you will be enjoying a lovely Tilapia Poundcake in a few months' time.
