Bitter(s) in New York

Anyone know where to find Angostura Bitters in New York? I feel like I'm on a search for the freaking Holy Grail here.

Whole Foods on Union Sqaure,
Dean and Deluca in Soho should have them
lots of Food Emporiums have them...

Lol hope you never have to look for Peyscaud's or Fee Brothers, then the fun really begins, what area are you in?

I'm in the East Village.

Actually, I found Peychaud's at Union Square Wines. Whole Foods told me they didn't carry them, and the Food Emporium at Union Square was a no-go too.

I saw them not long ago at the little market near me, Pacific Green (that's in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn). If that's not convenient, you might try asking a bartender where to get them. A local place might even sell you a bottle.

I'm surprised your local liquor store doesn't have them with the mixers.

Bitters + club soda = best cure for an upset stomach!

I was on the same seemingly endless search. Liquor stores can't sell them because they are considered to be a food item. I think that most 'everyday' consumers don't really look for bitters so they are generally sold wholesale to bars, etc...

It's been over a year but if you are still looking, look at boutique specialty food stores (dean and deluca won't have them, and even if they do their selection will be minimal). Kalustyan's on 28th and Lex has them. It's a South Asian specialty food store.
