Are you a sucker for "limited-edition" products?
I get this sense of urgency to purchase these "limited-edition" products...ice cream, candy bars, beverages & even appliances! What limited-edition foods or culinary related items call your name?

I love the ice cream made with the Samoas Girl Scout cookies! Duh-lish!

I am the opposite: I avoid so-called limited edition because too often it feels like a marketing ploy. Seasonal is one thing (holiday foods, Girl Scout cookies, etc.). But the whole "get it while you can/soon they'll be gone forever" just irks me.
Samosa ice cream sounds delicious, though. Likewise, there are Blue Bell favorites that come and go (usually they come back, though). The cantaloupe ice cream was one of the most delicious things ever;

I really want one of the new Wusthof Blackwood knives. I want one even more because they are only at Williams-Sonoma. They just look so cool.

Only if I'm really driven to experience the flavor. If it's something I actually like, I'll beat a path to the LE Product but if it's something I can live without, not so much.

I am a sucker for President's Choice Candy Cane Crackle ice cream. It's just not Christmas without it.
I have also been sucked into various versions of my fave chocolate bars on occasion, but generally speaking, they never compare to the original, so I have learned my lesson on that front.

Haagan daaz has a carmelized pear and toasted pecan ice cream right now.... it's sooooo good!

I really do shy away from limited edition food products. I guess I figure that if they were good enough to be "special," they'd be good enough to be always available so that Amy's or Ben and Jerry's or whomever could make more money off of them. Anecdotally, that has proved the case when I've fallen sway to the charms Only! Available! Now! though I'm sure lots of people get great stuff, but I'm out of the loop on that one.

Coolname, you are right on the money! Those Blackwood knives are beautiful and I wish I could afford them, but since I already own the Classic line, it's just not practical, but they are my #1 dream wish list item at the moment.

I used to be a sucker for the Hersey special edition Reese's Cups. I do have a soft spot for peanut butter cups, and when they first started coming out with those special editions I generally would try them - but now the limited edition candy at the grocery check out seems over used and the limited edition flavors aren't that great.

Okay-since I last posted, I bought not one, but two, special edition Christmas Hershey Kisses! I continue to be sucked in, clearly. The Candy Cane Kisses were okay, but the texture was a little gritty (they have actual crumbled candy cane in there), and the mint truffle was also okay, if a little too sweet and fake minty for my tastes. Perhaps after this episode, I will have learned my lesson for good!
