All I want for Christmas (Hanukah, etc.) is ________

I want a slow cooker, I've made up my mind. I hope someone who's getting me a gift reads this. What culinary gift are you dying for this holiday season?

23 Comments:

I'm with you, Mich. My letter to Santa was short, with only two biggies for the kitchen:

1. A stand mixer. De'Longhi.
2. A slow cooker. All-Clad.

Asked for some cookbooks, too, for the kids' sake since they're cheap.

Off topic, the only other thing I really want is a good coat. ;-)

Hee! I just got married, so Christmas came early for me this year. My friends and family were very generous with the kitchen items, since they know how much I love to cook. The only thing that I want for Christmas now is for my husband to let me cook more often! He's too used to standard "bachelor" fare (beans on toast, anyone?) and rebuffs most of what I cook as "too fancy." Hmph. :)

A De'Longhi deep fryer, some white truffle oil and a bunch of small kitchen gadets to get me through another year.

All-Clad S/S 12" skillet or saute pan.

I rarely use my electric crock pots. Is that the same as "slow cooker"?

A cappucino maker. I am sick of paying $3.60 (min) for every cappucino I want!!

I think the crock pots are slow cookers. My brother just bought a slow cooker, and said he's made some amazing things. I think many years ago when we got crock pots, the availability of fantastic recipes was non existent. Slow cooking is a "hot" topic today, so the ideas are more diverse.

I actually just want some table linens. Sooo boring. But some nice, heavy, white table linens are noticeably absent from my closet.

Truthfully, I'll settle for completing my move without losing or breaking anything out of my kitchen. Take notes Santa - I want gentle movers.

An immersion blender and a host of cookbooks!

Thanks Mich23. Everything old is new again, ceptin' ME!

Gift card to my local coffee shop!

An exhaust fan in my kitchen so my neighbors quit thinking the house is on fire every time I make bacon and the smoke alarm goes off.

a gift certificate to williams sonoma.

A food processor. Please Santa, I've been very good this year!

Reading all these comments has made my list a little longer!!!!

A one hour shopping spree at Bridge Kitchenware, with no credit limit. That would be sweet.

A new Calphalon skillet

The Amateur Gourmet's book

2 cook books

An immersion blender

Space in my kitchen for all of the above :)

funny you should ask! I was just completing said list..
bacon press, Pizza stone(mine broke), digital camera(maybe this year santa?oh and some decent stemware-(preferably without the budweiser frogs)because the roomate who breaks things moved out! Hurrah!

Can I add something to my list? I want a kitchen assistant so I can cook like the TV chefs. Somebody to do all the tedious prep work (chopping, peeling, etc.), putting all the ingredients in little pre-measured dishes, and then to come clean up after me (no small task) when I've finished.

;-)

I really want a good food processor. And a stand mixer. And some good sherry vinegar... ooooh, bad idea, moving from food equipment to food items can make this list significantly longer, so I am stopping right now:-)

LoCo, call me crazy but I love the prep work as much as I love the actual cooking. Prep work soothes me, kind of like knitting or gardening. I know, I'm nuts. But I'll come be your sous chef if you promise that we can find someone else to do the cleaning -- now that I hate. :)

Not crazy, sheeats. There are times when I actually do get a lot of pleasure from prep. But, since most of my cooking is of the *obligatory* sort, rather than the *self-fulfillment* sort, where time is an issue, and I'm doing the same old thing. That's when it becomes tedious.

Even clean-up can be quite therapeutic, especially when I'm in "THE ZONE" (scary... usually drives everyone out of the house, which is probably why it's so therapeutic! ha ha).

But, have you ever noticed how it takes forever to prepare, and just as long to clean up, but only a few minutes to eat? I think that's my biggest problem with prep and cleanup.

So, where do you live? Are you available weekdays between 4 and 6? Maybe I can fill your gift wish in exchange for both prep AND cleanup!
;)

all I want for Christmas is a kitchen extender!!! (wink)

Oooooh RockyKay, I'll be right behind you at Bridge Kitchenware! But then I'll also need a few hundred extra square feet in my apt to fit it all...
