1968 Soave - Swill?

I found a bottle of 1968 Barone Ricasoli Soave in my uncle's basement. I don't know much about wine, but from what I've read soave is best when under two years old. Any chance at all that something wonderful has happened to it in 39 years or shall I use it to kill weeds?

Depends on a lot of things. Was it kept in a cool, light free area on its side. You may have a very expensive bottle of Barone Ricasoli or a bottle of vinegar.

open it up and try it.

there's only one way to find out for sure! I'd have a stand by bottle at the ready in case it is swill.

Please report back after opening!

I'll wait to open it around people who might appreciate it, but upon closer inspection, I think it's toast. There's a small amount of sediment that I couldn't see until it got in the right light. So I think it probably wasn't stored correctly. I will report back when we open it.

A wine from '68 probably would have sediment. You could decant it through a strainer or just skillfully pour until into a glass until you reach the undesirable part.
