Vegetarian holiday food
Half my kids have gone vegetarian on me- protein being the star of most holiday meals, its a problem. My son, Billie, the chef, and I and my husband and one daughter are planning a surf and turf Christmas lunch, and the other kids are coming later. I've asked each of them for the one thing the couldn't resist on a menu, and Billie and I are going to come up with a 7 course vegetarian tasting menu. Wish us luck! My course is dessert- flourless chocolate cake with port ice cream- yummy!

It might be too late, but if not, look at the Greens cookbook (from Greens restaurant in San Francisco) - the recipes are just delicious and I think you could come up with a festive and beautiful menu

Please post the rest of the menu! I'm dying of curiousity. My daughter isn't a veggie but a really close friend of hers is and I'm always on the lookout for new veggie dishes. These are ovo/lacto vegetarians?

homemade filled pasta would be nice and festive...rice, savory pies, and pasta are good standbys in general for vegetarians. think carbs, then add vegetables and protein. id steer clear of soy and imitation meat products in general...they can be really tasty but they're just not appetizing to non-vegetarians, and you don't need to use them.
