My favorite sticky, chewy food is ______
When I'm craving a sticky, chewy food I go for a good caramel candy or caramel apple rolled in nuts, a pecan sticky bun or granola bar. What are your sticky, chewy favorites? Sweet or savory?

I crave Vietnamese sticky rice, which can be savory or sweet depending on the toppings. =)

Normandie caramels and Botan Rice Candy. I adore both. Luckily, neither are instantly available. Or I'd be the size of a house. I'm not kiddiing.

I adore chewy but I'm usually not big on sticky. That said...
~ Cinnamon rolls.
~ Tapioca pudding.
~ BBQ spareribs.
~ Hominy'n'cheese (like mac'n'cheese, but chewy, gooey, more flavorful)
~ Turkish delight with powdered sugar and pistachios. Authentic. From Turkey.
~ Crisp apple slices dipped in fresh, gooey, homemade caramel (easier to eat than candied apples, and you get more caramel!). Not exactly chewy, but...

I'm pretty fond of Twix bars.

Am I the only one who doesn't like sticky/chewy? I prefer salty/crunchy/crispy. Oh, but I do love me some Anson Mills grits with cheddar cheese, so maybe that counts as gooey/chewy?

I have some Al Amir Apricot Paste Fingers in my desk drawer that are seriously chewy and extremely tasty. The ingredients in them are apricot, sugar, glucose, and olive oil. They taste like a big old mouthful of apricots and are not as sweet as candy.

absolutely horrible for my teeth, but i LOVE laffy taffy!

I'll be totally mainstream and say Tootsie Rolls and Big Hunks. Yeah, and salt water taffy.

With all my dental work, I can't eat sticky stuff. I learned my lesson when I was 14. I ate a gummy candy, and it pulled my bridge out! No caramels, Snickers, Milky Ways, etc. for me.
Somewhat chewy stuff is a different matter -- a fudgy, gooey, chewy brownie, See's chocolates (buttercreams, Irish cream, coconut cream... my mouth is watering just thinking about it!), Russell Stover's filled seasonal chocolates, fresh-baked choc. chip cookies, etc.

I adore the cinnamon buns/monkey bread my mom makes. But she ONLY makes them for Christmas breakfast, so I only get to enjoy them once a year. They are so bad for me, but I honestly eat them all day. Makes me crave them now...

Although I would never buy it, I tried Jolly Time Mallow Magic popcorn recently and it was pretty sticky/good.
My all-time favorite chewy sweets are Haribo Gummi Bears. Stick them in the fridge for a little chill and glass of ice cold milk. Mmm-mm.

I've been reading this site for a few weeks now, but haven't felt compelled to join up until this topic. I'll have one of those gigantic "turtles" with the caramel, pecans and chocolate.

I just like sticky chewy stuff in general....mochi, wine gums, glutinous rice cakes, starburst candy..... the list goes on.
Sweetie at 4:46PM on 11/14/07
maryannm--thanks for joining us & welcome! All these candy references has my mind taking a trip down memory lane----black licorice--yum!
JEP at 6:06PM on 11/14/07
mmm sticky chewy caramel candies for sure, and Turkish delights as well.

Over on David Lebovitz's blog today, he discussed coconut marshmallows---sounds really good. Of course, any chewy coconut concoction is something I'd eat in a minute...
JEP at 7:44PM on 11/14/07
caramel apples :-) and with my new-found love of salted caramel, I've started salting my caramel apples as well...so good!

goo goo clusters... the caramel and marshmallow combo does it for me

Mmmm....popcorn balls!
JEP at 7:10AM on 11/15/07
OMG... Thanks JEP! You always manage to get me thinking. Can't believe I forgot about black licorice. The real stuff, made with molasses and not overly sweet. MMMmmmm... reminds me Gramma. We used to fight over black jelly beans and she introduced me to Allsorts, too. Anybod remember those? When she was dying and wouldn't eat anything, I brought her a bag of black licorice and black jelly beans. She consumed at least one a day until the end. Sniffle. 3-(
Anyway. Super moist, chewy, sticky coconut macaroons are way near the top of my list. As long as the recipe calls for salt. Whenever I get one that contains no salt, I want to gag.

My favorite is a bar cookie known as a Scotcheroo. It is rice krispies with peanut butter and corn syrup topped with a chocolate icing. Also, peanut butter chews for school made with cornflakes are great!

I like chewy cookies! Especially like a toffee or a chocolate chip.
