Midnight Munchies

Last night, as I stood in the kitchen just before midnight, scooping up leftover chili with tortilla chips, I wondered if I was the only one.

Are you a Midnight Snacker? What's the last Midnight Snack you had? How often do you find yourself searching for a nosh in the wee hours?

I have to be absolutely ravenous to eat that late at night. A couple of spoons of leftovers will usually do it for me. If I have leftover broccoli rabe or other veggies, I feel less guilty about eating that late.

I had ten mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups at 11:30pm. Is that wrong?

I'm not a middle-of-the-night snacker, but if I'm up late, I do have a certain tendency to eat spoonfuls of ice cream. I'll grab a big spoon and periodically grab bites (after all, if it's only bites, it really can't be bad for you :) ). I also munch on cereal...

Popcorn! Cooked in peanut oil on the stove and sprinkled with salt and grated Parmesan cheese. This is my favorite late-night snack or sometimes even dinner.

I am a night owl. Usually around midnight I make a cup of tea and have a slice of cheese.

I'm a college student, so most of my eating is done at night (and I skip breakfast! I'm doomed!). Delivery is never open late enough. Usually I get Mexican food, sandwiches, or Oreos. It's all I've got around here that late (I usually turn in around 3-4 am).

I'm a night person. Lately I've been making an 11:30 snack of black bean and monterey jack quesadillas in the microwave. 30 seconds to cheesy goodness, mmm.

Hahahahaha...being a college student does mean doom. No breakfast means that your third meal happens sometime after 930. So, our late night dining option is only open till midnight on weekdays, so if you don't get that, you eat whatever you can. Yesterday, I had chef boyardee raviolis at 1 in the morning. Chex mix is always good...chocolate peanut butter lindt truffles are amazing...fun dip...ummm...popcorn. Basically whatever you can get your hands on at that ridiculous hour.:)

I would have been so wired by the sugar and caffeine, I could never get to sleep after that! :D

Sometimes I wash them down with Coca Cola. I seem to be immune to the caffeine effects. I gotta stop, though, or my teeth are gonna rot out.

This sound so good I might have to go get everything to make it right now!

My favorite is just a piece of toast with peanut butter on it.

I never (have, or do) go to bed on an empty stomach. Its how I get a good night's sleep and maintain my girlish figure even over 40.

I too am a college student and like it's previously been stated, it's hard to have a decent midnight snack (or meal for that matter!) living in a dorm. Usually I reach for some yogurt or some crackers with peanut butter.

Alright college students! We seem to have the midnight snack down. Last night was an exception--someone stopped by my room at 1:30 AM with a pot of risotto. Usually I have a cup of something hot and a handful of nuts and dried fruits. But if I'm not feeling virtuous, I find myself with a spoon and a jar of peanut butter, raiding the bag of chocolate chips I keep on hand to bake with, or even, horribly, posed with utensil in hand and a can of sweetened condensed milk. It's bad! =)

I'll have horrible guilt if I eat late at night....I usually cut myself off at 8:00 p.m. and have no food after. If I ever do break my rule, it's usually for cold mexican leftovers: rice, beans, homemade enchiladas and taquitos. I'll have a few forkfuls of everything...nothing else is worth the guilt.

I hate to admit but I am DEFINITELY a midnight snacker. Not only can I not go to sleep hungry if I tried but I always get hungry at night. So no, you're not alone. I sometimes have full meals at midnight...sigh...
